Yet another full moon night in Iceland. About 10 min exposure by a mountain lake in Snæfellsnes. Northern lights didn´t show up, but stars were bright and made a nice trail in the sky.
How is it possible to sleep in Iceland during a limited stay when you know that something amazing might be happening in the sky? This is the question I posed to myself when I kept waking up to check the skies. This time it paid off and I was rewarded with a beautiful display of the aurora.
One of the most prominent displays of noctilucent clouds that I can remember. Insufficient sleep guaranteed.

After a sleepless night on the train from Trivandrum, we found ourselves on the last leg of our overnight journey to Pondi. I love travelling by train and India's trains are excellent for experiencing this amazing country. This is the country to which my mother lost her heart. I feel so fortunate to have been able to take this journey with her four years ago.
If only I could turn back time to savour this moment with this amazing lady. Just for a while...

One evening in the early Union Pacific era, the Seattle to Los Angeles Z train came by our house in Klamath Falls with a solid set of Southern Pacific EMD power. I asked my wife if she would like to have dinner at the pizza parlor in Weed. When she answered affirmatively, we were off.
Our first shot of the train was at the US 97 grade crossing in Dorris, as it popped out of Tunnel 17. It's just a wedgie...
