It has been three months since I moved to Seattle. By the time I moved, I have already seen thousands of photos taken at this spot. No two photos are the same. For some reason I wanted to have my own capture curated so that it is easy for me to connect with the very the moment and place every time I take a look at it. Little did I know about the terrible winter weather here. Spying through the Space Needle panocam from my laptop became a routine, one of the first things I used to do after getting up from bed every morning. Several weeks passed. Then came the beautiful day. It being Friday, I could sign off from work a couple of hours earlier than usual with ease to get to the viewpoint and secure the least obstructed spot. I spent nearly one-and-a-half hour experimenting the skyline in different lights, all the time standing behind my camera and tripod. Finally, half an hour past the sunset, the day gifted me with a beautiful twilight. I took five bracketed photos and convinced myself that this is exactly what I was looking for. Time to give rest to my eyes (and my sore legs), which are already brimming with satisfaction.

The phrase is so true and I noticed this during my first trip to Seattle. Cars running through these freeways to downtown all day and night without ceasing. Hope you enjoy this pano!

Another night of lights last night but this light show was very faint. I went back to same spot as the other night but walked further down around the point of pyramid point. There’s some really cool logs and trees that would make a really nice photo. I’ve wanted to do this for a while now. This place and setting was just right. Happy Sunday everyone ☀️
Laying awake for hours before sunrise, unable to sleep.
I decided to get up and walk around to a rocky beach outcrop... and watch the new day dawning.
Unfortunately I hadn't checked the tide charts... so was unable to access some of the shoreline. I had to backtrack in places and make my way through bushland in the dark... hoping my torch battery went the distance!
As I walked through the narrow bush tracks, dry leaves crackled underfoot. Birds awakened, as I went, their calls ringing through the trees. A wonderful experience for me, although they were probably not so happy.
My sense of smell seemed heightened... I soaked up the smell of eucalypt leaves.
Cloud cover to the east (not visible when I left home), made a less impressive sunrise.
My favourite shot of the morning, turned out to be one of the first, a long exposure taken in darkness.

Vivica decided to stay in the old building overnight. She found some old curtains to use as a pillow and curled up in an archway. But sleep did not come. She could hear a shuffling grunting sound over the gale in the trees and the wooden doors rattled every now and then <3

Alaska is, obviously, an extraordinarily hostile environment. The weather is frigid, the roads are coated in ice, and the wildlife can be dangerous. Cell phone service is not available between Fairbanks and Deadhorse and, even if you could summon assistance, the nearest professional help would often be hours away. In this setting, even small mistakes can be extremely costly.The frigid temperatures of the far north will take a toll not only on you, but on your equipment.
