Sarracenia 'Adrian Slack' is a natural Sarracenia moorei hybrid named for the Englishman who helped popularize carnivorous plants through the publication of his two books: "Carnivorous Plants" (1979, 2005) & "Insect Eating Plants & How to Grow Them" (1986, 2006).

I don't think I've ever seen the effect of clouds rolling down a hillside like this before but it was awesome to watch. This was probably the most sun we saw yesterday on a great day out in the Lake District.
The colouration of these two Sarracenia 'Adrian Slack' pitchers is best appreciated in the evening light, so I waited for the best moment to make the shots (five stacked frames).
The plant attracts its insect prey with secretions from extrafloral nectaries on the lip of the pitcher leaves, as well as a combination of the leaves' color and scent. Slippery footing at the pitcher's rim, aided in at least one species by a narcotic drug lacing the nectar, causes insects to fall inside, where they die and are digested by the plant with proteases and other enzymes.

My life be like...slack life.
A little wall done with mr baqsr rtm from ireland. this was my interpretation of what i thought we were doing when the idea was explained. quite enjoyed myself. good meeting you anyway mate.
This is my nephew, Ben, walking on the slackline set up in his backyard. Still practicing. Ben recently visited me for a job shadow. Future scientist/engineer.
To enjoy my other creative project, please visit my funny short stories website: 500ironicstories.com where you can read or listen to new stories each week. I have also curated the stories into three different selections:

A concept I've been thinking about. Getting an action shot in these lighting conditions is a bit like shooting a sunset: either the darks are too dark or the sky is blown out.

This week the theme of the 52WeeksPhotoChallenge (norberteder.photography/gute-fotos-training/) was "sport" and since I didn't have time for my planned climbing picture, I spontaneously decided to do a photo shoot on the slackline.
