* We have stayed in Wimereux several times usually at the beginning or the end of a longer holiday . On this occasion we had two days there so we could explore the area a little more . Between Wimereux and the small settlement at Ambleteuse is a very interesting area of very established and impressive sand dunes. The dunes are well protected but there is a designated path so you can view them. I will post a shot or two of the Dunes at some point Eventually you arrive on the beach of the Baie de Slack . This shot was taken looking north towards Ambleteuse. One interesting detail in the seventeenth century fort built to defend the River Slack estuary

Fort d'Ambleteuse is a sea fort by the commune of Ambleteuse .The fort was built at the end of the 17th century by the military architect Vauban on the orders of Louis XIV to defend the port in the estuary of the Slack. It was designated a Monument historique in the 1960s.

Looking towards Gog and Magogs berth's. Two Barges that supplied the ranges with their Guns to test. The largest of these guns was an 18 inch Railway Howitzer, I believe it had been on a battleship during or just after WW1 then used for proofing trials at Shoeburyness.

Crooked River, Smith Rock State Park, Oregon.

With not having got myself back in the saddle yet, rather than complain about my own lack of activity I thought I could at least head off to one of the beaches not far from my home this weekend if only to sit and enjoy a flask of coffee alone with the world.

I haven't actually visited this particular beach before but spotted this lovely red boat from the road side as I passed and decided it deserved to be captured before the tide put it out of reach.

This is a 6 vertical shot stitch job and if I can eventually come to some agreement in my head regarding the colour, I'm not good with orange stuff, it might even be worth printing. More is the point, I did at least manage to get out the door!

Thank you for sharing this moment :)

Mar' 2010

Trawling through the archives I found these forgotten images.

A cold day back in March 2010 I was passing Eilean Donan Castle just before slack water which gave me a few minutes to get set up and capture some of the best reflections that I have witnessed there.

This was captured with little to zero movement of the water.
