Simplicity
In post, I cropped and adjusted the image to produce the desired simplicity effect. The color tone tool was used to create more contrast between the shadows around the frame of the fireplace and the subject that is framed inside. The red and yellow colors were revived to enhance the effect of the fire in the background and also to provide a more vivid contrast with the main subject, which is darker and placed in the lower-left third.

Bodice is Simplicity 5695 - skirt is my own design. Assorted quilting cotton from Joann's and Hobby Lobby.
I found a copy of this at an antique store for $1. The envelope is destroyed and I have no idea what size it is. I'm not sure yet if it's complete. I hope it is; I love the blue version. 2 1/2 yards.
This is my best photo for simplicity. I enjoy the pattern of the windows of the building since it is very pleasing to the eye. I also chose it because of the contrast between the white and the blue. I tried making the sky a darker blue so the white on the building would stand out more and I opted for less shadow and contrast so the building could be less muddy.
Simplicity 1535; ©1945; Unprinted Pattern. Misses' and Women's Jacket: In Style I, II and V, the front buttoning jacket, gathered at the lower edge, is joined to a waist band and finished with bishop sleeves. Style I and V have small pointed collars. Style II is collarless and the front is trimmed with two patch pockets. The collar and sleeves of Style V are in contrasting fabric and the front is finished with a patch pocket. Styles III and IV are collarless and do not button down the front. Style III is joined to a front-buttoning waist band and patch pockets trim the front. The sleeves are short. In Style IV, a ribbon is drawn through the casing at the lower edge and fastens in a front bow.
I bought this pattern primarily because of the illustration--the colors are just so perfect, and the paper's all creamy and delicate, and I love the little fox-ears bow on ms. blue suit's hair tie.
It's not my size and not my style, but it's just awesome.
