I made this simplicity top for my mum – it was quite easy to sew (the pattern was from the magazine “Meine Nähmode”, issue 01/2012). I decided to add some facing but this did not work out well – it is flipping to the outside. And the straps are a bit to long. Luckily the fabric was a leftover from a beach dress I made for mum as well, thus it is not a big loss.

Pattern Sizing: AA (10-18), BB (20W-28W)
As this was my first amazing fit pattern, I heeded directions to disregard RTW sizing and measure myself first. Instead of my usual 10 bust and 12 waist and hip, my measurements dictated that I was a 14 bust with a 16 waist and hip. I didn't believe it, so traced off those parts of the pattern which didn't have the smaller sizes fully inside the larger ones, instead of trimming the pattern as usual. Boy, am I glad I did. The first muslin swam on me and the bust point was about 5cm (2") too low. (see photo above)
After pinning in the side seams, I determined that my usual sizing was quite large enough, with the added insurance of 9cm (3½") wearing ease and 2.5cm (1") side seams. I then pulled the whole thing undone and recut the lot, 2 sizes smaller.
When cutting out, watch out for side front (A-2) - it has a size 8 marked on it as well
Once I got the pattern sizing right, the fit was perfect without any alteration although the bust point was still a little low. In my opinion 9cm of wearing ease in the bust is too much for a sleeveless dress.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes it did
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the only difficulty was working out which shape to use. It seemed counter-intuitive to use a B cup with a curvy fit. However the cup sizes refer to the front pattern pieces and the fit sizing only applies to the back pieces. Once I got my head around it, I did as I was told and used the B cup front with the curvy back. Incidentally, the centre front panel is the only one that is common to all shapes.
There are plenty of tips for fitting, but I didn't need them, I mainly looked at the diagrams.
Simplicity skirt pattern 3881, view A. I shortened the body of the skirt by 2 inches and sewed the flounce to the skirt with a 1 inch sa.
This photo is for my new project 'simplicity'. I almost finished it after a weekend full of hard work. I'm pretty happy with it. :) But I might want to shoot some more photos with a different model.
And I thought it would be nice to upload a new selfportrait, my last one was from October.. ^__^''

Simplicity 4669 - I made view B which is the sleeveless tank. I rounded the neckline, lengthened the back slit opening by about 1 & 1/2 inches and lined it instead of using the facings the pattern called for. I also lengthened the top 2 inches.
