Something that I found as a pleasure later in life, my morning coffee is definitely that now...especially when I can make it in my big cup on a Saturday morning
I have not died. Nor am I in Bilbao. I'm too early. Besides, this is a tapas bar. It would be pintxos in Bilbao.
All of this dislocation in space and time is my excuse. I make no apology.
Around the corner from City Recital Hall is a skinny little tapas bar. After Handel, I recommend feeding the body. I wouldn't say no to a chilled manzanilla, a few snacks, some conversation, and reflection on the performance just experienced. I'm too early for the commemoration to follow. I'm in the wrong place.
Roll forward two days; 5 December 2025. The esteemed architect Frank Gehry has died. Perhaps you know him for the spectacular titanium clad Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. No, I've never been to the Basque Country. But I have seen one piece of Gehry's work: the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building at the University of Technology, Sydney. I can't show you a picture, so I need to go back, stalk the light, and visit with a lens up to the job.
Put aside any sadness his demise leaves behind, because he has left behind extraordinary things, a heavenly legacy we can marvel at as great as Handel, Bach, Jackson Pollock, JĂžrn Oberg Utzon, Pink Floyd, Neil Finn or Vambola Veinberg.
I have not died; this is not heaven. But it is a tapas bar. That's close enough for the ecstasy these simple pleasures bring.
As I stated below in one of my replies, there is a rather interesting story related to this image: I arrived at this location and there were four people standing on the banks of this river just off to the left. I was able to compose a couple of "people free" images before I noticed this guy taking off his boots. I quickly made a few more images before he entered the water and proceeded to meander out into the middle of "my composition". I think he knew what he was doing and he seemed to be in no hurry to get out of the way. Why should he let some photographer rush "HIS communion with nature". But, the longer I watched and waited for him to get out of the way the more I realized he added just what I needed to make this image a little more interesting - CLICK.
I hope his experience in the river was just as rewarding for him as this image is for me.

Delicious!
Taking a bath has become a luxuryâŠit's down to 2 minute showers over here due to the water shortage.
Have a fun day, everyone!

I love the country life... it is just has that down home feel. I use to go by this every morning when I was taking Re to his other babysitter.
Bono delivers a perfect pitch to Rattlers catcher, Skully, as Tebya, Ilya and Omiyage stare in disbelief at the outfield.

The school children are walking over the bridge to the railway station while we wait to catch a bus to Hitchin nearby in Hertfordshire.
Sometimes i look back at photos and think to myself how damn lucky we are to be in such a gorgeous country, even more so here on the coast with the 'normally' awesome weather and great surf!!!!
If anyone would like to ask, the right hand side of this shot was cropped when i took it to get rid of a building thats there so it looks more like a serene environment. If only we could take away all the buildings and just leave me, haha!!! that's be very cool........
Thanks again to all my flickr buddies and hope everyone enjoys what feels like, the first light of summer!! YEY!!
PS: Yes, the coffee is now kickin in!!!

Showers are fine and functional. But a hot, scented bubble bath to soak in while reading a good book - now that is pure luxury!
I created this image back in December, when the cold and chill Arctic winds were blowing, and a long hot soak would warm me up. But now it has even more meaning for me. Many weeks of Shingles has deprived me of this simple luxury - and I am soooo looking forward to being able to enjoy it once more - and hopefully soon ;o)

Finding things to do during lockdown. There are no 'white light' or 'flashing light' problems involved in solving jigsaw puzzles - they bring people together and away from their little 'personal device' worlds - and they are easily available using on-line auctions!
Ironically, this picture is of a holiday train - in the days when holidays were possible.

Who wouldn't love this simple pleasure? She is definitely my fur baby!
I was a bit too busy and then stuck for ideas today... and then someone wanted to go and play in the rain. As a responsible grown-up with a past-the-bedtime child.... what is the correct response again....?
When you're home alone on a Saturday morning - put on some basics, get out in the sunshine, go to the market and buy yourself some peonies. And strawberries. Loads of them.
HEY EVERYONE!! I have been doing my best to stop in here and see everyone's amazing photos and I haven't been let down once!! I'm missing being able to stop by and look longer.... This site is one of my simple pleasures, hence the title of this photo!!
Still really busy... Having a rough time with biology! YUCK!! Oh well, it'll all be over in December!!!

These gorgeous roses were from my daughter & granddaughter for my birthday yesterday, but I like fresh flowers on my table all the time, it's one of my simple pleasures!
Our Daily Challenge ... simple pleasures.
Zeppy loves the beach and he quickly learned the concept of "fetch". Today he cottoned on to the part where he needs to drop the stick so it can be thrown again. Man and dog had a lovely time!

Subject: Glass
There is something really special about blue glass. The way it glows in the light ~ it's simply magical.
I found this beautifully crafted glass bowl in a thrift shop and paid only a few dollars for it. This treasure has graced my home for years and brought me so much visual pleasure.

" We could never have loved the earth so well if we had had no childhood in it."

One of my favourite pastimes since I was a child - lying under a tree and looking up at the sky through the canopy ;o)
Watching the sunshine on the leaves and the patterns that the leaves make against the bright sky - listening to the rustling of the leaves, and the sound of the birdsong. Tall trees and soft mossy grass beneath are the very best.
I rediscovered the delight as an adult when I spent a year close to Epping Forest. In my memory, that was the perfect setting, made even better as we used to take a picnic and a bottle of wine for our afternoons of 'Tree Gazing'
