For Textural Tuesday, and my Simple pleasures collection
I suppose that I should call them 'cast asides' really not 'castaways' like on a desert island! They are odds and ends that I simply have to shoot before I throw them away or use them. This is a small sprig of fresh basil combined with a tiny white daisy. I was keeping the basil fresh in an eggcup of water before adding it to my cooking ... and the flower was a left-over from a wilted bunch. And I am soooo reluctant to let anything go - I just placed them on glass and took a few shots!
For the background and texture I combined 3 from "2 Lil Owls"
Lumen 1 and Lumen 24 and Crazy Flares 7

For my Simple Pleasures album, and for Sliders Sunday too ;o)
Some small blue hydrangea flowers from the garden - given the most colourful blue treatment I could come up with ... it is still mostly mud and ice here!! ;o)
I'm collecting an album of Simple Pleasures to celebrate the small, ordinary things that I take for granted - and might not think to photograph.I started this to add colour and sparkle to the long grey days of winter, but I find I am constantly adding to the list ... I suspect this album will continue to grow and grow, like Topsy ;o)

I love collecting things. Whenever I'm out walking (with my nephew, or my fur baby Biscuit, or with any of my people, anywhere), I'm often looking down to see what's around. That's one of my simple pleasures. Feathers, pebbles, shells...these are some of my simple obsessions.

Such a grey day here I looked for some colour to brighten things up! One of my Simple pleasures is to take some blue hydrangea flowers from last year, still keeping some colour as they slowly dry. Together with stronger colours behind the window on the garden - and I feel warmer already!

Experimenting! ;o)
Playing in Photoshop - here I tried using a black background, and working from the dark to the light using textures ... I rather liked this one. I do love the gerbera (Transvaal daisy) it's is such a great flower to photograph.

I was driving home on a back road last night when I saw the setting sun shiningon the back of this Brown Eyed Susie. I had to stop.
captured in the warm alleys of palma de mallorca, this photograph presents a moment of reflection and solitude. the subject, seated against a textured wall, is engrossed in her own world, enjoying a simple meal. the warm tones emphasize the summer heat, while her expression suggests a calm escape from the bustling surroundings. her tattoos and unique style add a layer of personal narrative to the image, contrasting with the historical charm of the old town's narrow streets.

Dok sunce lagano proviruje kroz guste krošnje, jutarnja šetnja sa Srećkom vodi nas uskim putićem prema suhozidu i ostacima bizantske vile pokraj Šila. Tišina, miris borova i pjesma ptica stapaju se u savršen sklad prirode i povijesti. U ovim trenucima, male stvari postaju velike – koraci, dah, pogled prema moru.

As the sun peeks through the treetops, a morning walk with my dog Srećko takes us down a narrow trail, past dry stone walls, toward the remnants of a Byzantine villa near Šilo. The air is fresh, birds are singing, and time seems to slow down. These small moments are the real treasures.

Early evening in October this year. I uploaded the picture on an iPad but I got the location wrong on the app but it was taken in Colchester Essex. I’ll amend it next time I’m on my computer.
The picture was looking down Bengeo Street outside the Holy Trinity Church Hertford. This is the first picture in my one camera one lens discipline I started this week. This week is the Fuji X-E3 with the Fujinon 35mm f2 lens. For once I used a tripod so I could take advantage of low ISO to improve quality. The colours are not accurate but the camera did record lovely colours and not being used to the 35mm (full frame 50mm) did present some interesting moments. Photography is fun.
The simplest flowers often give the greatest pleasure!

**sniff** Mmmmm, don't you love the smell of fresh laundry that's been hung out to dry? Just one of life's simple pleasures which I love. ❤
I hope your day is going well...thanks again for visiting.
My husband and I had the privilege of visiting a development project in Uganda and spent some time playing games with these children in a foster home. Their faces and excitement were a joy to see when they were playing with a simple bottle of bubbles. For more information visit www.quickentrust.com/
Ah it's the simple pleasures in life. Not forgetting the jigsaw.

Both very enjoyable and I was surprise just how much that wine glass holds 😂
My camera was dangling down my monopod which can also be used as a walking stick if needed. I think the picture tells a story of getting older etc. If I may say that photography is great for older people because of the need to walk around and the need to continue to learn.
Fresh, dried or crushed for cooking - the scent of rosemary is so delicious!
It has been grown in kitchen gardens for many hundreds of years - and was valued for its medicinal properties, as well as for flavouring food. Culpeper's Herbal has a wonderful description of all the ailments it was used for:

To me, winter delights mean blue skies, sunshine, and crisp white snow, Sadly these have been lacking for too long this year - I had to go back to the last day of November to find a photo-shoot of sunshine on snow in the garden.

I decided to scatter some nasturtium seeds this year, as it's a couple of years since we had them in the back rockery. Sadly we are not alone in our admiration of them .... slugs, snails, caterpillars and many more are delighted with our choice! So I have begun to cut the flowers and a few leaves before they are completely eaten ;o))

Christmas shopping, and I found some small branches sprayed with sparkling paint .... and they still glitter in the sunshine. Here they give a bokeh background to a delicate golden yellow tulip.

Simple Pleasures - raindrops on roses ;o)
HMM!
It's been over a year since I last took a shot of a red rose. I didn't realise it has been so long! So I decided to use this MM challenge to make up for lost time!
The folded centre is about one inch across, and the full shot is probably two inches - a little bigger than my usual... but I wanted to fill the frame with the beautiful petals ;o)

I think on this particular morning, the group split up. Geoff and I turned right and the rest went left. Geoff ventured further afield in search of space invaders and I was left to ponder a rock and a hard place – the place being the ruined church at the bottom of the lane near our barracks. Didn’t really like anything from the church so cut my loses and tried a few long exposures just for the hell of it… after all it’s a long way to bring all your gear and not try and use it.

My final upload to Flickr for 2020. What a year it’s been and I’m sure you’ll all be glad to see the back of it just like myself. Who would have predicted that a little thing like a virus could cause so much devastation globally and affect so much of our daily lives.
Even here in Flickrland there has been a noticeable downturn. I post this in the hope of achieving 1,000,000 views this year… well down on previous years. It’s not really important, but I do like to have goals and targets to aim for, else what’s the point.
Here’s wishing you all a “better” New Year and that we can all return to the things that give us personal satisfaction and enjoyment. Thanks for all the support and comments and see you all next year.
