Alois Negrelli (right) and Carl Ritter von Ghega (left) are "neighbors" at Vienna's Central Cemetery. Both names are inextricably linked with the rapid development of the railroads in Austria-Hungary in the 19th century. Negrelli was also involved with Switzerland and northern Italy and, last but not least, with the construction of the Suez Canal.
Negrelli was originally buried in the St. Marx cemetery.

Happy to report that the repairs were completed for the afternoon running session after there had been a diesel substitution in the morning
It was so hot and sunny yesterday that the blue sky dominated, so I decided to crop most of it out!! I really need clouds , but there's always something to take. Simmer down, is probably an instruction to me , from Bob Marley!
A delicate sunrise from the drive back to Wales. After hectic twisting mountain roads it was quite soothing to see this pastel sunrise ove the Grey Corries. Sadly I've got no more snow clad peaks for a. while but this was a great final parting shot. Simmer Down is by Bob Marley and the Wailers. I need to go Christmas shopping in Cardiff today.
Bit more long exposure work down on the Tees-estuary. 30sec exposure.

I don't think it's ever too early to make the house smell wonderful.... and, I have begun some baking.... so I will soon get a pot of cloves, cinnamon sticks and orange peels simmering too. I love the aroma .....
You could put in whatever you like really...but, these are my favourites. Just keep adding a bit of water every so often if you leave it on heat on the stove...it does dry out ....

The Racetrack, Death Valley
I'm in the mood to continue posting night images, so here is another shot from a Death Valley trip in January. This was taken at the end of blue hour. Light painting was added to help accentuate the textures in the playa and give emphasis on the rock.
Vitosha Mountain
After climbing to the spot, I realized that the camera's battery was nearly depleted, and consequently, this was the only photo I managed to capture that morning.

The cool Northern Californian coastal air with the kindest gentle winds truly completed my emotions upon the time this photo was captured. This was Northern California's way of expressing concern for the approaching winter season, and that the days of gentle wind, crushed skies and still reflections were numbered.

This is an 8-frame panorama of the aurora from last month in Alaska. Why simmering fires? The Mandan tribe of North Dakota thought the northern lights were fires over which great medicine men of northern nations simmered their dead enemies in pots. The Makah Indians of Washington State, on the other hand, believed the lights were fires over which a tribe of dwarfs were boiling whale blubber. Not sure which one of them is correct, but clearly a simmering fire of some sort is involved in creating these lights.
LMS designed Black Five 5428 was built by the sub contractor Armstrong and Whitworth in Newcastle in 1937 and was operated on the main line for thirty years until October 1967. It os quite fitting therefore that she now earns her corn working on the nearby North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
She is seen here having just arrived with our train from Whitby. A diesel locomotive took tree service as far as Grosmont where the Black Five took over for the last 18 miles through to Pickering.
