Bane NOR SF: shunting signal R28 showing the authorized movement with caution aspect.

These quite clear signals were replaced in 1970 by somewhat cryptic '9 eyes' a single signal with 9 globes that can give any which way direction.

I now have a signal collection!

This was from the collection of a former railroader. This is a very one of a kind item. This was the model board for Pence Tower (aka MJ Tower) in Momence, Illinois. I don't know really anything about this tower so any photos of it in operation or information about it would be super helpful. I really would like to fix this up so it can operate again!

SNCF Guidon d'arrêt (GA) signal

In some cases (protection of shunting movements, opened crossing...), the guidon d'arrêt is used, as well on the main tracks as on the shunt tracks, in the place of a handheld stop signal.

Just as the closed carré, the closed guidon d'arrêt commands the driver to stop before the signal.

The open guidon d'arrêt never means 'track clear' but simply that the signal is not to be taken into account.

These 2 signals are on the old CASO sub near Tilbury Ontario.

Pyloric caeca in transverse section. Considering the

relatively short length of the sturgeon adult gut, absorptive

surface area is increased by the presence of the spiral

valve (see P6d_009 to P6d_011) and pyloric caeca. The richly folded caecal mucosa edges an irregular (unstained) lumen. The epithelial cells are typically columnar in shape

(enterocyte-like cells) and some small goblet cells are

also present (blue arrows). A delicate connective tissue (yellow star) surrounds each caecal portion.

Railroad Grade Crossing target signals and Track Pan Signals

Track pans were a very interesting concept for supplying water without having to stop at a water tower and were used by a few railroads in the US to help keep passenger trains running quickly and on time. The track pan consisted of a trough between the rails which was filled with water. Engines that were equipped would have a scoop under the tender which , when the signal showed it was okay to lower, would be pulled down by a lever in the cab and this would allow the engine to scoop water at speed. When the signal showed raise the scoop the lever would move the pan back into the bottom of the tender.

Notice the difference between NYC's signal and the B&O one.

Signalling System L, Combined Signals:

Combined Signals show either Main aspects or Distant Signal aspects. So, if we define a Main Signal as a signal which is able to indicate Stop, Combined signals with the additional board (showing the dot) are Main Signals, only.
