At the Mexico Lindo restaurant in Oshawa, there is an old rusty pole just outside its front door, and this is the east side of the sign atop that pole. On this side the Coca-Cola and Sprite signs are both quite visible; on the west side, the Sprite dominates.
UPDATE: Sadly, this has been removed from the restaurant's property.
Fine Ladies Shoes 👠 has some great #handpainted #signage as well as a #vintage Coca-cola #privilege sign that has been repurposed. #signgeeks #signsofgrime #everything_signage #ig_signage #typevstime #type #dailytype #typography
Saw this theater on a drive down to Kansas City earlier this year in March. Resolved to come back and shoot it at twilight/dusk/blue hour when it was lit up. I was glad to see that all the letters were lit and the sign appeared to be in fine order. One more summer goal completed.
Fun mural on the side of the Pearl Bros Hardware store in Joplin MO. You can not see all of it from the street, so park and walk over to see more art and fun things. www.californiatochicago.com insta @calitochicago Facebook California to Chicago
La Pastora Bakery in the Bronx has been in business for nearly 40 years. The third-generation owner told us that his grandfather started the business after moving to the United States from Puerto Rico and that they still use all of his original recipes. Our hearts ♥️ go out to everyone who has friends and family in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and hope they all recover from the devastation the hurricane caused on the island. Photo from 2006 and full interview with owner appear in our book, "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York". #storefront #typevstime #type #signgeeks #ig_signage #typography #dailytype #fontastic #signcollective #everydaybronx #bronxbestshots #handpainted #everything_signage
Domino has been operating in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for 90 years (the sign is 61 years old). It is the last major manufacturer still operating in the Inner Harbor. Long gone are Domino contemporaries and former Inner Harbor icons like Western Electric, Allied Chemical, and Procter & Gamble. #signgeeks #domino
We love the variety of products that are displayed in the window at this #candy store. We spotted a calculator, mouthwash, cleaning products, deodorant, earphones, and phone prepaid calling cards. Inside there was also cigarettes and a few packs of #gum and #chocolate bars. This truly is a #NYC #storefront complete with #graffiti and a payphone outside. Photo from 2001 taken with 35mm film appears on our book, "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York." #analog #ipulledoverforthis #disappearingfaceofnewyork #signgeeks #jj_texttypographical #tv_typography #tv_retrotype #tv_retro #type #typography #harlem
Since 1899!
My friend and I were on our way somewhere else when we wandered into this area of downtown Chicago; I quickly snapped some photographs with the intention to return the next day to take more. Alas, we never got back to this very same spot. Next time! I hope this store is still there but, since it's been around since 1899, I'm betting it's not going anywhere fast.
Broad & Market Streets in the heart of downtown became the focal point of #Newark after its establishment in 1666. The city of Newark expanded around the intersection and by the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, this "Four Corners" became Newark's modern business district where its first skyscraper was built by the Fireman's Insurance Company. We love this tavern's rusty relic with its amazing #font and depictions of glasssware. 🍺🍷#fontastic #typevstime #signofgrime #signcollective #tv_retrotype #jj_texttypographical #signgeeks #everything_signage
