The current owner told us that this #neon #sign was installed in the 1950s by Billy, the founder of this #liquor 🍸🍺store. This beautiful iron peacock sits atop the neon YMCA sign in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. The "Y" is long gone, luckily the sign survives.
We remember the G. La Rosa & Son Bread Co. well as we would often take our dogs Tabasco and Java (R.I.P) for a walk along this street and would always smell the fresh bread 🍞 baking late in the evening. The owner even gave us a fresh out-of-the-oven loaf one evening because we were stopped outside his open doorway and commented to him how good it smelled. ( they were a wholesale business and had no actual storefront to sell individual loaves). This #analog photo was taken after the #bakery had closed in the early 2000s and this portion of it became a high-end antique shop and the building next door became a condo with boutique stores on the ground floor. #signgeeks #signsofgrime #typography #signcollective #dailtype #typevstime #graffitiwall
This sign, finds it spectacular. I wanted to absolutely photograph it. I have wanted to give a light tone, delicate, the shade of the neon under the writing Sparkle is the definitive touch. The correct photo in the correct moment with the correct light. Yes !!!
Shore Haven Luncheonette in Bath Beach, Brooklyn has been in business since the 1950s. We love its #handpainted #signage, especially the proclamation that it has the "BEST COFFEE in BENSONHURST"! It really does have good #coffee ☕️and serves a fantastic buttered #bagel! The interior is original, complete with lunch counter and stools and they also still serve old-fashioned egg creams and malteds!
