One of the best signs I've discovered so far this year....this looked like quite a popular honky tonk. Next time we'll go in!

Don't you just love that neon bee!?!
We were across the street when we spied this place -- and we were hungry. Sadly, we couldn't eat here because it was packed solid. Every chair taken, with more folks lined up at the cash register and other folks also eyeing the crowd looking for a seat.
Next time.
Columbus, Ohio
Edited to add: If you look in my Ohio album, you'll see photos of both the Golden Donut and Jolly Pirate donut shops, both also in Columbus.....see the similarity in the signs?
On the road in West Virginia. This was a "real" gas station, where you drive over the cables, they ding, and out comes a service attendant. We ate lunch here, very old school and delicious!

Parkside Lounge in the Lower East Side has been in business since 1956. Before it was a ‪#‎bar‬ it operates as an icehouse. The bartender, Tom told us that "there even was a tunnel downstairs that used to run all the way to the river so that ice from the river could easily be transported into the house. We love the ‪#‎vintage‬ ‪#‎neon‬ ‪#‎signage‬ which you can see all the way down Houston Street. Photo and full interview appear in our book "New York Nights". ‪#‎storefront‬ ‪#‎neonsign‬ ‪#‎neongeeks‬ ‪#‎signgeeks‬ ‪#‎type‬ ‪#‎typography‬

Saw this theater on a drive down to Kansas City earlier this year in March. Resolved to come back and shoot it at twilight/dusk/blue hour when it was lit up. I was glad to see that all the letters were lit and the sign appeared to be in fine order. One more summer goal completed.
Back story: In our 2016 visit to LA, we landed at LAX, got our rental car, ate an early lunch at Pann's, and then drove through the city, leisurely, to get to our hotel in Pasadena. As we drove, I got this Firestone neon shot (like old Arby's signs, I shoot old Firestone signs whenever I see them). I came across this photo again just today, going through old folders, and curious at what looked like construction in the photo, googled to search for info......and discovered that it was indeed construction. I'm really glad I shot this!

Mt View Motel in Los Angeles has a wonderful old Color TV by RCA sign, one of my favourite finds (nice neon arrow, too)

Jay & Lloyd's Kosher Deli is a 3rd-generation Jewish #delicatessen that opened in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn in 1993. They are known for their home-cured corned beef and pastrami and their friendly service. We not only love their hot dogs and homemade pastrami but also their unique #signage with a mix of #script and various #fonts and their hot dog wearing a hat 🎩 and bow tie logo. Photo from 2013 and full interview with co-owner Jay Stern appears in our book "Store Front II-A History Preserved". #signgeeks #everything_signage #ig_signage #type #signcollective #typography #typevstime #dailytype #fontastic #brooklyn

This dairy has been in business in the scenic Lake George area for decades. Unfortunately when we were there, they had already closed for the season -- but that did allow me the opportunity to freely roam around the building shooting all their signage, including this fun neon cake sign in one of their windows. (Their main sign with its fun rooster is awesome; you can find it in a few of my albums, including "we all scream" and "new york state".)
