iPhone shot of the Pink Cloud motel on Sepulveda in North Hills, CA

Either in Surrey or White Rock....depends on where you look online. Since I was sure we were in White Rock (my sister lives in Surrey), I'm going with White Rock. Either way, it was a nice find (although the neon is behind plexiglass which I don't much like, although I understand why it's used).

Delicatessen on Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn has a great ‪#‎vintage‬ ‪#‎sign‬ with wonderful green ‪#‎script‬ lettering. This ‪#‎deli‬ has been closed as long as we can remember and the ‪#‎signage‬ is peeling away but it still looks great to us. We also love all of the ‪#‎rust‬ and ‪#‎graffiti‬ on the doorway. ‪#‎storefront‬ ‪#‎tv_retrotype‬ ‪#‎type‬ ‪#‎font‬ ‪#‎fontastic‬ ‪#‎typography‬ ‪#‎typevstime‬ ‪#‎jj_texttypographical‬ ‪#‎rustlord_texturaunique‬ ‪#‎abandoned‬ ‪#‎signgeeks‬ ‪#‎trb_ipoft_signs‬ ‪#‎trailblazers_urbex‬ ‪#‎80sixd‬ ‪#‎ipulledoverforthis‬

Lexington's Parkette Drive-In has an amazing sign -- quite tall, and embellished with some animated goodies like neon cars and arrows, as well as this lovely carhop who perches atop the sign. I wish the sky had been better, but what can you do? At least it wasn't raining lol

Auman's Flowers & Crafts, with a wonderful ice cream sign!

Historic Dairy Queen neon sign on US1 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Earlier this year, on the last full day of our California getaway, I was sick -- fighting off a bad cold that bloomed the day before, and the cold was definitely winning. We had planned for that day to get away from the city and venture up towards Oxnard and maybe beyond. We still did this, but it was a rough day for me; we headed through LA meandering north, stopping to shoot some signs I had wanted to get to, then drove inland up to Oxnard, then went up to Ventura for lunch, then came back down the incredible Pacific Coast Highway. I would have liked to have stopped here, at the Reel Inn, even just for a quick drink, but I wasn't feeling up to it and we needed also to give ourselves time to get back to our hotel to pack. Malibu definitely looked worth exploring -- next time!

It wasn't open when we drove by (March 2017) and I have no idea if it is still in business or not.

Orange Lake, FL

Highland Park Liquor, on N. Figueroa in the Highland Park area of LA, is a classic old-school liquor store on route 66. I'm not sure the neon is still up though....what I've read online is that the store was sold and is now called "Tinfoil", a combo liquor store/deli. I hope they kept the old neon signage.

Westbound on Route 66, a view of LA that isn't, well, typical :-)

San Diego, CA - August 2018

The sign has a lot of holes in it on both sides ... I'm thinking there used to be bulbs.

Or, as saddle.tramp says below, likely holes for neon tubing.

I should have thought of that :-)

I was delighted to come across this blast from the past as we were driving out of Tampa as night fell upon us. According to what I discovered online, the original name for the Village Inn restaurants was "Village Inn Pancake House" and they were only open for breakfast and lunch, with buttermilk pancakes being their specialty. And, the first ones were in Tampa -- where I discovered this. What a gem!

From Wikipedia: Village Inn was founded by James Mola and Merton Anderson, who opened the first Village Inn Pancake House in Denver in 1958 They incorporated as Village Inn Pancake House, Inc., in December 1959, and began franchising in 1961, with Dow Sherwood opening the first franchised locations in Tampa.

MOISHE’S BAKE SHOP on 2nd Avenue by East 7th Street has been in business since 1977. Sadly, we just heard from the owner, Moishe Perl that yesterday was its last day as the the entire building has been sold. We loved this kosher #bakery as everything was baked on the premises fresh every day. They were known for their challah bread, rye bread, hamantaschen, rugelach, babka and sugar kichel.

This @pepsi "spectacular" was created in 1936 by the Artkraft Strauss Sign Corp for the Pepsi-Cola bottling plant that was located on this waterfront area of ‪#‎Queens‬. The plant was demolished and high-rise residential towers took its place in 2004 but luckily the ‪#‎neonsign‬ survived and was reinstalled slightly to the north of its original location. This amazing ‪#‎neon‬ ‪#‎sign‬ sadly is not landmarked but we hope it continues to survive. ‪#‎neongeeks‬ ‪#‎signgeeks‬ ‪#‎ig_signage‬ ‪#‎americana‬ ‪#‎instaamerica_americana‬ ‪#‎ipulledoverforthis‬ ‪#‎trb_ipoft_signs‬ ‪#‎queenscapes‬ ‪#‎SignCollective‬ ‪#‎ig_great_shots_nyc‬ ‪#‎ignyc‬ ‪#‎WHPpatterns‬ ‪#‎newyork_instagram‬ ‪#‎InstagramNYC‬ ‪#‎myfeatureshoot‬ ‪#‎newyork_ig‬

The Boulevard Motel has a sign very reminiscent of a Holiday Inn sign -- definitely an influence in the design, I think. It's a great sign with that big bulb arrow and the large neon letters. And as a bonus, there's a plastic-fantastic American Express sign too!

Brown's Motel was in the process of being dismantled when we drove by. I've got to be honest -- the area looked sketchy. We didn't linger too long, but long enough to get several shots.

This is the sign and the motel -- I was shooting into the bright morning sun. Much more challenging than the other shot I've posted, of the other side of this sign, which I shot with the sun at my back.
