The iconic d'angelo sign will be missed compared to the "bistro look" of the "D'ANGELO" of today. This one in Plainville survived longer than it should have but is no more today. It wasn't unusual for certain kids to think the "grinder" pictured was a breadstick with tomatoes on it...
Well, they kept to their word. They said they'd reuse the sign from the old Frisch's whose location they supplanted.
This one's got noticeable differences; black/brown sign vs. pale green, and the "Walgreens" is neon not blinking bulbs (or will be, once it's turned on - it's not open yet).
But they made the effort. It would have been a lot cheaper not to, but they did, and I appreciate it.
It's located in Hope, NJ. I couldn't find it the first time, and I left assuming I had been the brunt of a stupid New Jersey joke. When I passed this sign this time, it meant war. I found the Land of Make Believe, but I refuse to post pictures of it:
1. It's disappointing.
2. You have to find it for yourself, just like pots of gold and unicorns.
Loveland CO. One of those I'd passed for 16 years, but never thought of taking a photo of a sign, until now.

Sunset Blvd | In-N-Out Burger Sign 08/12/2009 14h12
One of the best burgers you can get when you are in California are sold here at In-N-Out Burger. A basic menu with burgers, fries and shakes. Their icon burger is the Double-Double cheeseburger.
In-N-Out Burger
In-N-Out Burger is a regional chain of fast food restaurants with locations in the Western United States. Founded in 1948 by Harry Snyder and his wife Esther, and headquartered in Irvine, California, In-N-Out Burger has since expanded outside Southern California to the rest of the state, and to Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. In-N-Out has never franchised, and plans to remain privately owned. There are currently 240 locations (as of November 2009) with no location more than one day's drive from the Irvine headquarters. The company's business practices have been noted for employee-centric personnel policies. For example, In-N-Out is one of the few fast food chains in the United States to pay its employees significantly more than state and federally-mandated minimum wage guidelines – starting at $10 per hour in California, as of January 2008.
The In-N-Out restaurant chain has developed a loyal customer base, and has been rated as one of the top fast food restaurants in several customer satisfaction surveys.

Katzenhirn = Cat's Brain. There's actually a village called Katzenhirn. Imagine how strange it is when someone says " I live in Cat's Brain".
Rock Springs, WY. The weather changed quickly from a sunny afternoon to sprinkles around the time this shot was taken. Parts of the sign rotates as cars pass by the drive-in window.
Ok, a break from the steady depressing photos. Jose and midnight doing what they do best; having fun and keeping everyone smiling.

Answer this question before you vote: Are you sure that you know what BHO means by the phrase "Fundamental Change" ? Be Careful - very careful - the word 'fundamental' means "the building block or foundation" Are you ready to see the US become Socialist or Communist or are you ready to have your freedom of Speech stifled? I want to stay Free and Capitalist!

Explore #56 - November 3, 2008 - Thank You!
(Then it was tossed out early in the AM on Election Day - The Socialists are running Explore too!)
The unexpected gem of a sign that I discovered in 2003 was in terminal decline by 2006.
The glass had been broken out and the sign no longer had power.
When I checked the location in the summer of 2008 there was nothing left but a pole.
(There is a tiny chance that the sign made it to the new location of the company, 206 Sunset Avenue, but it is not showing on the Google street view)
Only the sign remains, and for who knows how long. The lot the sign is on was infested with earth-moving equipment when I was shooting this. Even though the sign's hidden in the trees on the property line, it's end may be coming very soon.
I can find no history of Terrace Hills, but it's obviously been closed and gone for quite a while.
Rustic is an actual town in Colorado...a very small town.

I've been holding on to this photo for a while. I took it last August. The reason I was waiting was because I thought I had a photo of my nephew standing under it from 2009. I can't seem to find it. He probably has it. The resort was more of a campground, right on the river. When he was visiting and wanted to camp in our motorhome, we choose this place for the fishing and close location to my home. There was a fire here. I can't remember the date, and can't seem to find anything on it now, maybe June 2010. I'd really like to own this sign. I'll probably reshoot it with my 6D, so I can get a good print.
The sign still has it's manufacturer's name on it. Excellite Neon Excellart Advertising Co. Volts 120 V.A. I have a photo of the company plate, if you'd like to see it let me know.
