I've been passing this place on the way to AmVets for years, I'm glad I finally tried it! I've always loved their sign....

Moto Montreal Cycle is a family business that opened it's doors in 1975 under the name of Montreal Cycle Rebuilders.
While this sign is a chuckle opportunity for the gay traveler, it is in fact the name of a popular clothing chain in Amsterdam.
The ALCO factory in Providence, Rhode Island, was originally opened as "Rhode Island Locomotive Works" in 1865 by Earl Phillip Mason and produced over 3,400 locomotives from 1866 to 1899. In 1901, the company merged with seven other locomotive building companies and formed the American Locomotive Company. By 1907, they produced 600 locomotives at the Providence plant. With growing railroad demands they couldn't meet, ALCO seized production at the RI location and began producing motor vehicles until 1913, while continuing it's locomotive production at a larger plant in Schenectady, NY. In 1918, the plant was sold to the U.S. Rubber Company. During World War Two, the plant shifted its efforts and helped produce 7,362 tanks for the U.S. Military. At the Schenectady plant, ALCO continued manufacturing locomotives until 1969.
Currently this property is pretty much vacant, accept for Providence Economic Development offices and rental space. There used to be a really nice restaurant inside, but that unfortunately didn't last very long.

The Maritime Festival hosted the biggest (and best!) outdoor market in the city, with a fabulous selection of crafts, clothing, jewellery, paintings, flowers and plants, as well as the mouth-watering gourmet meats, cheeses and breads. The quayside market stalls kept even the most committed shopaholic happy, with over 100 traders offering a vast selection of gourmet goodies and crafts from around Ireland and beyond. Located on both sides of the river Liffey, stallholders from around the country as well as Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Africa and the UK were on hand to tempt shoppers with a mouth-watering array of gourmet foods. Eat there or take home freshly cooked prawns and garlic potatoes, French bread baked on site, traditional paella, croissants and pains au chocolat, churros con chocolate, as well as German bratwurst, Belgian chocolates, olives, tapenades, Dutch cheeses and lots of seafood.

Old Hwy 99 Frontage Rd - Stockton, Ca
This shot taken just last weekend. Though the sign is in need of sprucing up a bit this zig-zag sign is still standing tall. It still lights up at night just fine. You can see it from the old highway. Good for you, Stockton.

Road bridge, now footbridge, over New Main Line of Birmingham Canal. 1829
by Telford. Cast iron. Brick abutments have some sandstone dressings.
Single segmental arch of 150 foot span carries road across Smethwick cutting.
Arch formed by girders pierced in lattice pattern, with lattice bracing in
spandrels. "Horsley Iron Works 1829" is said to be cast in four places.
"Galton Bridge" is cast above the centre on each side. Cast iron railings
terminate at stone piers with Gothic blind tracery. Named after Samuel
Tertius Galton, one of the BCN committee.

Canal Cycleway
The Hanging Lake Trail is one of Colorado's most visited and beautiful short hikes, 3.2 miles out and back. The Hanging Lake is high in the mountains at the end of the hike along Deadhorse Creek and through rough and rocky terrain.
The ball on top must have rotated at one time as the box to the right looks like a motor. It is very loose and spins in the wind. It is no longer used as a motel.
Old Howard Johnson's sign, repurposed. Taken because roadsidepictures posted a postcard he had of the original complex here.
For those unfamiliar, the top should have a HoJo logo, then "Motor Lodge" below that, then an arrow usually talking about the pool or some such, then "Restaurant" below that (since taken down), and the bottom bit is the changable signboard.
"College" used to be THE place to play in San Diego. Many generations of pool players grew up playing and gambling at this legendary spot. Now a shade of its past "glory" College is once again trying to woo players - this time 3 cushion (billiard) players. Owner Pedro Piedrabuena is dedicated to the sport and has held international 3 cushion tournaments at the place.
