Riviera Casino neon in Las Vegas, member of a dying species.
Sadly, this picture is a little blurry, because it's taken from a moving train.
a sign in new hampshire: by order of the health department... NO Smoking or Spitting. Ahead of it's time.
On June 2nd, in celebration of National Trails Day and the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act, the BLM, in cooperation with National Pony Express Association and Lincoln Highway Association representatives, led a guided tour of the Pony Express National Historic Trail through lands managed by the BLM Salt Lake Field Office. The Pony Express National Historic Trail was added to the National Trail System on August 3, 1992 and extends from Saint Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California. The trail commemorates the two year run of the Pony Express Mail Service. While the Pony Express only ran from 1860-1861, the trail is also linked to early western explorers, a stagecoach service, the first transcontinental telegraph, overland emigrants, and the first cross-country automobile route. Tour attendees experienced the trail through traces left by stagecoaches and riders, listened to cowboy poetry, learned about the history of the trail, and saw landscapes basically unchanged from 1860.

Popped the colors here. I spied this one about a month ago, and found myself in the neighborhood again - so I went and got it.
Big ol' (3.5' x 5') thick coated cardboard SNOBOY Sunkist Lemons sign from the 1950s. Screen printed with neon yellow (and other colors). Double sided with an advert for canned tomatoes (not nearly as fun of an image).
Philadelphia, PA; the sign was built as a scaffold sign in 1999 and installed in downtown Baltimore:

Then moved here in 2010 and used as a billboard sign next to the interstate.
Old neon sign for the former Acme in Egg Harbor City, NJ. The supermarket which had been open since the 1950s, closed in 2002.
From the looks of the place, they don't need the neon "no" in front of 'vacancy". A little off the beaten track
425 W Mission, Escondido, CA.
This is a nice old-fashioned restaurant sign which is seen by motorists passing by on Interstate 40 on the east side of downtown Knoxville
the neon is long gone and the business name has changed but the sign still stands at the Secondi Bros truck stop at I95 exit 40 in Milford CT
Dickson City, PA. June 2015.

Love these new signs. Anyone who follows my photo stream or visits Brazos Bend knows they aren't kidding. I've seen Park visitors being very careless with their dogs and their kids. I've probably been careless with myself a few times while trying to get a picture :) I actually worry more about stepping or crawling onto a snake.
