Clem asked the woman working there if she would turn the sign on but alas, she said it didn't work.
This thing is incredible though isn't it?

On day four of my train journey across Canada by VIA rail. October 2018. We are seeing lots of snow now.
The window are not very clean so the photos are not that good. Also the train was speeding along at times and really bumpy. I have put all the photos I took on my journey on Flickr as a record of my trip.
Missy left me this note upon learning that I'd been accepted to grad school. We also had celebratory pastries from Patisserie 46. (I think they were as much for her benefit as mine.)
This restored Coca-Cola sign caught my eye in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. I don't know the history of the sign or building, but the fragments make for an intriguing image.
Anyone know what the letters and symbols in this fella's tattoos stand for? State Masters Surf Life Saving Championships, Trigg Beach. View large to see tattoo detail.
These painted signs were recently exposed after the demolition of an old building in Downtown El Paso. The John T. Muir Building was built by Trost and Trost architects in 1916. It was originally a beautiful building but had been remodeled at some point. Our City council voted to demolish it because: "It is not on the historic register, It's a non-contributing historic building and it has been irreparably altered." Sad - but cool that these signs were exposed!
This is how the Toronto Public Library has addressed the human rights issue regarding access by transsexuals to public bathrooms.
Newmarket South (450,000 square feet)
124 Newmarket Square, Newport News, VA
NS was built as Newmarket Shopping Center in 1956. At the time, it was the largest shopping center in the state (with about 29 tenants and 2,000 parking spaces), and the first real shopping center on the peninsula, not counting small commercial strips. It was renovated in 1979 to how it appears now (which is when these road signs were installed, replacing the original tall sign that was topped by a weather ball).

I'm sure that mastercard is good for their business, but it sure makes for crummy pictures. How about that super-professional 'TV' paint job? For some reason, the tower thing looks to me like something that belongs in an Italian restaurant. If you are planning a trip to the Burley, Idaho area, the Parish looks like it'd be a nice place to stay.
