The park shuttle can take you where no car can.
[Note: The Toklat River transit bus (park shuttle) took about 3 hours, one way. The Eielsen Visitor Center transit bus travels even deeper into the park for close views of Denali (formerly Mount McKinley). Unfortunately, neither bus is offered in 2023, due to a rockslide on the park road.]

At the end of the season last summer in Denali, I rode with my roommate, who is a shuttle bus driver in Denali, to Wonder Lake which is at the end of the only road in the park (mile 90). She was very patient with me and my photography stops. Here she is waiting for me to get back on the bus after hopping out to get a few shots of a kettle pond reflection.
Thanks you for stopping by :) You all have a great week-end !

What a horrendous day weather wise, was actually glad to be in work for most of it!
However venturing out after work finished and into town for a truly holy experience, to grab a shot of the 'God TV' shuttle bus service which is running Weds to Friday.
777 represents Holy Trinity of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, obviously a 666 or a 999 just wouldn't do!
The Pavillions was one of the stopping point along the route as shown here by 33664 posing nicely for this shot, the others being West Hoe, Railway Station, City Centre and Viaduct Exeter St.
apart from the hellish reliability(it's been back to Solms to fix a shutter fault) the thing that annoys me most about this camera now that i've started using my m6 again is the absence of that instantaneous and silent mechanical click when tripping the shutter. you press the button and the picture is made. not so with the m8 where the camera decides to take the picture when it's damn well ready and makes a huge noisy fuss about it! perhaps it's not possible but give me a digital camera with a mechanical cloth shutter and manual shutter cocking lever and i'll be very happy indeed.

Zion National Park is located in southwestern Utah near the town of Springdale. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile (590 km2) park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles (24 km) long and up to 2,640 ft (800 m) deep. The canyon walls are reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone eroded by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The lowest point in the park is 3,666 ft (1,117 m) at Coalpits Wash and the highest peak is 8,726 ft (2,660 m) at Horse Ranch Mountain. Located at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, the park has a unique geography and a variety of life zones that allow for unusual plant and animal diversity. Numerous plant species as well as 289 species of birds, 75 mammals (including 19 species of bats), and 32 reptiles inhabit the park's four life zones: desert, riparian, woodland, and coniferous forest. Zion National Park includes mountains, canyons, buttes, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches.

Go North East's Riverside-based "Tyne Tees Xpress" branded Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 6047 (NK12 GCY) is pictured here on Holeyn Hall Road, Heddon-on-the-Wall, near Close House, whilst working Masters Golf service MG1 to Newcastle City Centre. 29/09/17
The European Tour travels to Close House in Northumberland for the first time in its history for the 2017 British Masters supported by Sky Sports from 28 September until 1 October.
Getting to Close House will be easy across all 5 days of the competition with a regular MG1 bus service from Go North East linking Newcastle City Centre with the venue.
Buses will leave from opposite Newcastle Central Station (Bewick Street stop), St Andrew’s Church on Newgate Street (for Monument Metro Station and Eldon Square Bus Station) and Barras Bridge (for Haymarket Metro & Bus Station) and then run non-stop via the A69 to Close House. The first bus on each day will be at 6.30am and there will be regular departures until 11am, with buses returning from Close House from 2pm until 6.30pm on each day. Buses will run up to every 15 minutes for the Pro-Am competition, and up to every 10 minutes for the days of the British Masters.
The service is primarily allocated the Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs formerly allocated to "Tyne Tees Xpress" services X9/X10, which were recently replaced by brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5TLs on these services.
One of my goals on this trip was a sunrise from Hopi Point. I got here early. I caught this moon set.
I took a little winter trip to the South Rim. Hardly any crowds at this time of year. Temperatures in the upper 20's during the day, mid teens at night with windchills into the single digits. I am well prepared for these temperatures and was comfortable most of the time. I stayed at the El Tovar Lodge.

This viewpoint offers panoramic and breathtaking views of the canyon along the scenic Hermit Road. An ideal location for sunrise or sunset, Hopi Point also offers five views of the Colorado River. Vault toilets available.
www.americansouthwest.net/arizona/grand_canyon/hopi-point...
Stop number four along the west rim shuttlebus (the red route) is Hopi Point, the northernmost spot on this part of the south rim, and the first point where much more of the western Grand Canyon comes into full perspective - another 20 miles, since the Colorado begins a big bend northwards, allowing views all the way to Havasupai Point and the Great Scenic Divide. Hopi Point has a fenced viewing area next to the road, and a vista over the canyon centered on Dana Butte, a flat mesa 2,000 feet below the overlook. Salt Creek runs to one side, meeting the Colorado at a series of rapids, while Monument Creek is on the other side, joining the river at another set (Granite Rapids).
Opposite Hopi Point on the North Rim are a group of prominent mesas either side of Trinity Creek, named after figures from ancient Egypt - largest are Isis Temple, Horus Temple and Osiris Temple. Like many other Grand Canyon features their names were assigned by writer and geologist Clarence Dutton in the 1880s.
Because of the wide-ranging, unobstructed views, Hopi is the most popular place on the west rim for watching the sun set.
