I miss this kind of shot, two preserved Leylands in full WYPTE livery. It's not just the colours I miss, Olympians, Atlanteans, Roe bodied vehicles and I guess just the 1980's pre deregulation bus scene was my favorite time.
Clear your mind of the nineties and the noughties and immerse yourself in this picture of 5024 and 6294 in Leeds City Square running the Leeds 2009 Vintage Bus Event shuttle bus. Not a First or Arriva bus in sight, could be back in 1983!
In its retro livery of W. Alexander and Sons (Fife) Ltd, 27532 is approaching Newhaven Harbour on a shuttle service to/from former royal yacht, “Britannia”. This was in connection with the landing of passengers at Newhaven Harbour, Edinburgh, off mv “Costa Mediterranea”. The vehicle’s livery dates from last year when the red and cream colour scheme was applied to three buses to celebrate the centenary of the Stagecoach depot in Dunfermline. The depot opened in 1918 and originally housed trams and buses of the Dunfermline and District Tramways Company. This company would later be absorbed by W. Alexander & Sons Ltd. - by then an SMT subsidiary - and some years after nationalisation, the large Alexander company was split in three. The Fife subsidiary adopted Ayres red and cream for its livery (and Fife for its fleetname) after the split in 1961. Scottish Bus Group subsidiaries adopted the “......Scottish” branding in 1978. The Fife Scottish operation became Fife Scottish Omnibuses in 1985 and as a result of privatisation in the early 1990s, was purchased by Stagecoach in July 1991.

First are this month celebrating the one year anniversary of their takeover of Finglands while announcing a 100% increase in passenger numbers. Brand new Wright Streetlites and nearly new ADL E40D's have been introduced and both types have some buses wearing this 'cross connect' route branding.
Here we see ADL Enviro 400 bodied 33843 on Portland Street while working route 42 to North Manchester General Hospital. This bus was new to First Games Transport and was first used on Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games shuttle bus duties before coming to it's permanent First Manchester home.
A large scale shuttle bus operation was put in place for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2026 at Herrington Country Park, Sunderland, with official travel partner Big Green Coach drafting in operators from across the North East and beyond to move thousands of festivalgoers across the weekend.
Shuttle services operated continuously between Heworth Metro Station, Park Lane Interchange and Durham Belmont Park & Ride to the event site from early morning until late evening.
The operation consisted of approximately:
• 30 vehicles from Go North East
• 25 vehicles from JH Coaches
• 15 vehicles from DM Motor Services
• 5 vehicles from Northstar
• 5 vehicles from City Transport / A&A Coach Travel
• 2 vehicles from Stanley Travel
• 2 vehicles from Shaws of Durham
Belated upload of some of the many coaches used as shuttle vehicles at the 2015 Offshore Europe Event at the AECC. This year while First Aberdeen still featured, it no longer dominated a coach operates across the country as well as Aberdeenshire were used.

With the artificial sun taking over from the real thing a moment of pause shortly before 20.30 August 17th on the normally busy N2 road just south of slane village.
Having transported 153 double deck loads to Slane in support of rapper 'EMINƎM' earlier in the day Dublin Bus prepare to 'reverse' the operation and regroup the operation to a Slane - Dublin service. By this time the company had 187 double decks parked up on the N2 (traditionally Dublin Bus always have more return than outward journeys) .
This not insignificant number of buses stretch almost 2KM down to the boarding area. Mixed in are around 30 vehicles on hire to Marathon Coaches and Bus Eireann.
Loutish behaviour by some elements caused disruption to the plan.
Private transport (coaches & cars) were parked to the east of this spot,and out of view in this image. Access to these was possible only by walking. Crowd control barriers had been put in place alongside the N2. It is generally accepted practice that segregating pedestrians and vehicles is quite simply a good idea, especially on un-light rural roads, and given the large numbers involved. Some concert goers thought it amusing to kick down the barriers. Many attempts by stewards to correct this were thwarted by them being repeatedly kicked over, time and time again.
On safety grounds it was decided to park Dublin Bus / Marathon & Bus Eireann buses in single file, as opposed to the planned parallel and triple parking allowed for in the plan.
As Dublin Bus always provide refreshments and facilities for staff, the driver of 'AX554' had a particularly long walk!!!

During the closure of Alfreton Road, Little Eaton, on Saturday 15th March 2014, this shuttle service was operated by Notts & Derby to connect trentbarton's sevens, nines and amberline from Coxbench to Little Eaton.

I haven't posted for a while but that doesn't mean to say I haven't been out snapping away!
First day out with a second hand Fuji S200EXR which I picked up as a back up for days when I don't want to lugg a DSLR + lens around.
I've used Fuji's for years and they have always given me excellent image quality and the S200EXR impessed me, although it is no match for a DSLR handling wise.
