This is just a spacecraft design I came up with. I didn't really base it off of something else, but it is meant to be some kind of shuttle.

The shuttle between Virginia Water station and the PGA Golf Championships at Wentworth this year seemed to be mainly the preserve of Stagecoach South's South West Trains-liveried Olympians.
Stagecoach Hampshire 16292 (YLJ 332, ex-R292 HCD) is seen here passing the western shopping parade on Station Approach, while on its way to the golf course.
Interestingly, Abellio Surrey Pegasus Dart 8769 drove past here eastbound about five minutes after this - no idea why! This bit of road is not on the 566/7 route, which don't run on Sundays anyway.

Space Shuttle Enterprise (OV-101) arrives in New York, NY at John F. Kennedy International Airport atop the modified NASA Boeing 747-100. The Enterprise will become the cornerstone exhibit at the USS Intrepid Air, Sea, and Space Museum on the Hudson River in Manhattan.
Obviously based on the NASA space shuttle, this is what I believe a near- or far-future one would look like, with big powerful engines capable of leaving orbit without rocket assistance.
I could have made it more sleek by omitting the giant tailfin, but it just looks so iconic and "right" with it. If there is a single vehicle that embodies the true spirit and success of humanity better than the space shuttle, I don't know what it is.

B208FFS was a Leyland Tiger TRCTL11/2RH / Alexander TC Type C47F purchased new by Fife as their FLT8 in February 1985. It was renumbered to 442 when carrying the registration GSU342. On disposal in 1999 it passed to Docherty of Irvine before joining Shuttle Buses of Kilwinning in December 2002, where it became B208FFS once again.

The Honda Shuttle was offered in Europe from 1994 until 1999. In other markets it was sold as Honda Odyssey or as Isuzu Oasis. Later versions of the Odyssey weren't exported to Europe.

The Space Shuttle thermal protection system (TPS) is the barrier that protected the Space Shuttle Orbiter during the searing 1,650 °C (3,000 °F) heat of atmospheric reentry. A secondary goal was to protect from the heat and cold of space while in orbit.

All around the Atlantis Shuttle, there are interactive displays on several floors to learn more about the history and technologies of NASA's Space Shuttle Program. As we move forward, the corridor becomes orange and red, as if we felt the sudden return of the shuttle into the Earth's atmosphere …

This has been keeping me occupied for the last couple of weeks. This is a complete rebuild of the landing gear WIP shot posted a while ago, the mechanism has been simplified as it's just too big for 5 individual struts of gear (otherwise this becomes one big cargo ship, for a cargo of undercarriage only)
This will have a delta wing with 4 rotating engines, very similar to the shuttle in Avatar (it seems to be the most logical way to incorporate VTOL in to this sort of build) although it's way beyond our technical capabilities for such a vehicle yet.
It's bank holiday here today, so hopefully if I can put my beer down, I'll make some more progress on this today.
It takes something special to get me out of bed so early in the morning. The last "night" launch of the space shuttle is one of the things that can do it. The 4:14 am launch was visible here in Charleston SC and all along the East Coast. This 30 sec exposure shows the trail of the Space Shuttle Endeavor (STS-130) passing behind a bridge. The fog and the reflections on the river were an added bonus that I did not expect.
Seen in the depot building at Shuttle Buses in KIlwinning is recently acquired EVM Cityline bodied Mercedes-Benz Sprinter RX22SFN from South Pennine Community Transport.
Space Shuttle Columbia being ferried back to Kennedy Space Center on 2001-Mar-5. This was as it passed over Tallahasee FL after Columbia was refurbished in California. Unfortunately, Columbia disintegrated during re-entry less than 2 years later. These photos were shot with hand held 500mm lens, hence the motion blur.
