I did these edits to make the water sharper, and the colors more fall-like.

As compared to when I used a much slower shutter speed, using the fast shutter speed eliminated the blurriness of the photo because the motion has been frozen instead of being blurred to convey movement.

Im writing a lesson plan for the Photography Merit Badge to counter all the bad habits they are teaching the boys here. This is for my lesson "shoot slow to look fast." They are teaching them to crank up the shutter speed as fast as possible to get "action." I want to teach them to track. So I had to get good at it first!
