The every day's drama of life played out right in front of my eyes in the shallows of Bolsa Chica.

The circle of life continues uninterrupted: in order for one life to go on another life had to stop.

Paddling around in the shallows off Beadnell Beach in Northumbria, probably exhausted after several days of storms (UK) (5625)

The rock structures here are varied and complex and help make a variety of compositions possible.

As always, thanks for any comments, views or favorites, they are much appreciated!

If you find you have a few words to say about what I have done they will be much appreciated.

My best regards to you.... Martin

Egrets fish a shallow section of the wetlands. This section is a few feet deep in the spring and gets water from the adjacent canal. However, by mid summer much of this 10 acre section is only about 1 foot deep, and a favorite place for herons and egrets to feed.

Cooling off by dipping underside in the shallows.

Not something you (definitely nor I) would see every day: Great Egret caught a crab in the shallows of Bolsa Chica. For the curious: He had no problems whatsoever to swallow his catch whole :-) @Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve

Love crystal clear reflections....like this one of a bullfrog sunning in the shallows.

Het Wad

"Waar hemel en aarde in elkaar overgaan

In een ondiepe zee van slik en zand

waar eb en vloed bouwen en breken

waar de zee twee maal per etmaal land wordt

Daar is de wereld van de wad"

In a shallow sea of mud and sand

where ebb and flow build and break

where the sea lands twice a day

There is the world of the shallows "

Reddish Egret is fishing in the shallows of Bolsa Chica. As per usual, there is a lot of "dancing around" involved... :-) @ Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve

I enjoyed 3 days of perfect weather on Bruny Island, Tasmania earlier in 2021. Although the sunsets were nothing of note, the blue hour that followed was just spectacular. I noticed this stick lying in the shallows that gave me a beautiful leading line into the moon and reflection.

Splashing through the shallows, at the little wetland by the harbor, as the sun sank low and gave everything that "golden hour" light.

Stood in the shallows of the River Trent between Beeston Marina and Attenborough Nature, I was trying my best to keep my feet and tripod legs completely still so as to avoid unwanted foreground ripples. It was such a peaceful morning and luckily only a 15 minute walk from home.
