The Great Blue Heron preened and prowled the shallows looking for food. It only found a few very small fry for it's efforts.

Pictured here is the remains of the (aptly named) SS Instant Karma. Just as Mr. Lennon predicted, Instant Karma was knocked right upside her head (or bow), as she now lies forever in the shallows of the Captree Boat Basin.

Image processed w/ Photomatix, and finished using Photoshop CC -- which also includes the use of various Topaz lab plugins (including: Clean, Denoise, Adjust, Glow and LensFX).

Just another beautiful day on the coast.
An egret, wading the shallows on a beach on Monterey Bay, pauses from his search for food to stare off into the distance.
With a broad stretch of water all to itself, this Great Egret had just snagged a fish on a recent day at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, near Saginaw, Michigan. You can zoom in for a closer look at the bird and its catch.

The Iron Cross on Loch Ard marks the shallow waters around the Narrows. A nice bit of mist on the water soon became a thick blanket, but quickly burned off as the sun rose this morning.
A least sandpiper picks its way through the shallows and picks up a wee nibble from the silty bottom.
Checking the shoals for food this Mallard seemed to make a painting with the rocky bottom and such. Quidi Vidi, near St.John's, NL, Canada.

A Belgian pilot boat in the mouth of the Westerschelde on its way to its task.
This sea mouth gives acces to the port of Anwerp (B) and it is notorious for its shallows. It is mandatory to take a pilot on board.
It's been a few months since visiting the boats on Meol;s Beach, shot this last night on a harsh sunset, my usual gear was used and my new 4 stop soft ND Grad to bring the harsh sky down to the ground.

It's been hot here lately. This was one of those lovely warm evenings but the sun was already lost behind the clouds. Lots of people walking on water as the tide was well and truly out at Brighton beach.
This song has nothing to do with the photo but it's been in my head all day. Sometimes you just go round and round with a song and you have to play it a million times.
Metallica - The Unforgiven
An American Avocet scans the shallows for a bite to eat. I think they're rather graceful looking birds with their swooped beak and long legs. The coppery summer plumage is also a plus in my book.
