A little blue heron quietly wades through the shallows in beautiful morning light.
Thank you so much for your views and comments! They are greatly appreciated!
This is the season when the natural aquatic gardens around the lake really begin to pop. Among the first are the yellow pond lilies (Nuphar lutea), emerging proudly from the shallows in calmer, recessed areas away from the winds.
Dwejra, with its dramatic coastal formations and sea spilling over the rocks, is a magical attraction. Here you can swim in the spectacular deep sea of the bay, in the calm shallows of the inland sea or in the foamy waters around the Blue Hole – one of Gozo’s top dive-sites.
"The feet of the heron,
under those bamboo stems,
hold the blue body,
the great beak
above the shallows
of the pond.
Who could guess
their patience?"
From Many Miles by Mary Oliver.
One of the largest North American birds, the American White Pelican is majestic in the air. The birds soar with incredible steadiness on broad, white-and-black wings.
Their large heads and huge, heavy bills give them a prehistoric look. On the water they dip their pouched bills to scoop up fish, or tip-up like an oversized dabbling duck. Sometimes, groups of pelicans work together to herd fish into the shallows for easy feeding.
American White Pelicans feed from the water’s surface, dipping their beaks into the water to catch fish and other aquatic organisms. They often upend, like a very large dabbling duck, in this process. They do not plunge-dive the way Brown Pelicans do.
They are superb soarers (they are among the heaviest flying birds in the world) and often travel long distances in large flocks by soaring. When flapping, their wingbeats are slow and methodical.

Oystercatcher [Haematopus ostralegus]
A beautiful, sunny day on Saturday, so I went down to a beach, close to home.
Here, two oystercatchers were rooting around in the shallows , in lovely light.

This was taken from the Port Germein jetty in South Australia. It is a very long jetty surrounded by tidal shallows that make for some amazing long reflections, especially at sunset.
Happy Nice Wonderful Cloud Tuesday!
A fully rigged three-master that once served as a cargo ship on the old "Zuyder sea", now IJssel Lake, and the Wadden Sea.
This type of ship , a so called "Tjalk", was designed to sail through shallow waters and therefore a keel is missing at the bottom of such ships.
A keel ensures that a sailing ship cannot drift away sideways and for that reason the "swords" were made on both sides of these ships that could be lowered up or down. The effect is the same as a keel.
The antique cargo and fishing boats still in service are floating museum pieces and are cherised by their owners....
Those of you who are also FB friends of mine have seen a different version of this. I decided to rework it today.
This Grey Heron was looking out over a lake as the sun set in the South of France.
A bird of wetland areas, it can be seen around lakes, rivers, ponds, marshes and on the sea coast. It feeds mostly on aquatic creatures which it catches after standing stationary beside or in the water or stalking its prey through the shallows.

A Great Blue hiding in the shallows in the wetlands here on the farm. Have a great evening and thanks for the look.
.... they embrace with the kissing winds.
Hand in hand they dance with their ripples of delight to be seen from afar.

The interactive item operates with the original Aquasense system. It's water sensitive. If it gets in contact with SL default water it will turn wet, drip and will also dry in the sun again. It will take 90 seconds for it to be medium dry and another 90 seconds to dry off fully. You can change this time via the included HUD
Taking it off wet, it will stay wet in your inventory. You actually have to wear it to dry again.
You can instant dry it by wearing the included towel (add)
If you leave
When I go
Find me
In the shallows
When the time comes
On the last day
When they start to come down
Will you just
Will you run away?
Will you run away?
And let it all rain down
From the blood stained clouds
Come out, come out, to the sea my love
And just
Drown with me
Drown with me
If you leave
When I go
Find me
In the shallows

The spirit-world around this world of sense
Floats like an atmosphere, and everywhere
Wafts through these earthly mists and vapours dense
A vital breath of more ethereal air.

who was quietly sitting in the shallows by the riverbank, watching us float by.
Actually, we parked the boat across the river from him and we just watched each other for a little while. He seemed like he was taking himself a nice break and enjoying the sunshine.
I have walked with you in the shallows, swam in your undercurrents, and splashed in your great divide.
I pull you up to me when your tides are low,
then, in turn, you reflect and help me grow.
A fog may settle in over time and an eclipse may occur.
I still slowly drift across you; ripples…deeply...stir.
There's one more thing I hope you realize;
I go through phases, but I'm always here for you to light up even your darkest skies.
Sincerely Yours,
The Moon
Happy Sunday Friends! I hope your week goes well and you go with the flow.
