a good night !

"Der Tod ist das Tor zum Licht

am Ende eines mühsam gewordenen Weges"

von Franz von Assisi

_______________

The lunatic is on the grass

The lunatic is on the grass

Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs

Got to keep the loonies on the path

The lunatic is in the hall

The lunatics are in my hall

The paper holds their folded faces to the floor

And every day the paper boy brings more

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon

And if there is no room upon the hill

And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too

I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon

The lunatic is in my head

The lunatic is in my head

You raise the blade, you make the change

You re-arrange me ’till I’m sane

You lock the door

And throw away the key

There’s someone in my head but it’s not me.

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear

You shout and no one seems to hear

And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes

I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tonight there was a very pretty sunset at the conclusion of a warm, summer day. Luckily when I took a late afternoon stroll, I took my camera with me so that I could capture the glorious reddish orange hues that filled the skies and gilded the clouds.

Re-edit of a shot from 2013.

Golden light of the setting sun...

We still have about 100 American White Pelicans hanging around our city's lakeshore, to the delight of everyone.

City residents are 'flocking' to Lakeshore Drive, parking, and taking in the beauty of these big birds. Here's hoping they stay all summer!

The sun looked like a fishing bobber as it sunk into the sea.

Took this shot from my balcony of the trees in the distance just below the viewable mountains. The colours of the trees are beginning to change in the autumn sun. The evening rays of the sun made them even more colourful and gave us another 'sunset' of a different kind!

Sunset over Dal Lake in Srinagar. Perhaps one of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen.

Caught some nice late winter sun that was setting on this Mute Swan.

For my 666th publication on Flick, I went a bit crazy with my first attempt at photo compositing with the help of this great tutorial of Alexandro P. Hernandez. Here's the link:

Love this one of the orange sky full of birds. Going to try a few big prints/canvases to see how it looks. Taken in Chorillos, Lima, Peru.

The medieval fortress of St. Mihovil was erected by The Venetian Republic in the 13th century on the island of Ugljan.

The fortress is located on the same hill (265 m) above the town of Preko. It's in a ruined state today. Here, a view towards island Iž and Dugi Otok (Long Island).

Summertime in Preko, an island near Zadar, Croatia, mid-August 2018.

As I often say..."Remember to look behind for the image you just walked past"...this was one of those times that paid off...as we were headed back from our day long exploration of a part of Southern France...ahead of us we could see some rocks that were a glow with a rosy hue...we got out of the car as there just happened to be a look out...when we 'looked behind' us...this was the scene!

Late afternoon and the sun starting to set at Saunton Sands, North Devon. Looking from one of the layby's down the beach towards Airy Point with Braunton Burrows a Unesco Biosphere Reserve behind.

This is my darling husband and his phone. I thought it was an accurate statement of how we document moments in our lives now.

A full moon rising in Florida as the sun sets, a few days after Hurricane Sandy. The storm continued north, wreaking havoc in the northeast.

Have a wonderful day, smile.

Last night there was a very pretty sunset at the conclusion of a warm, spring day. Luckily when I took a late afternoon stroll, I took my camera with me so that I could capture the glorious hues that filled the skies and gilded the clouds.

Sadly I was unable to stop and park my car soon enough to take a shot at the setting sun, but never mind, this will have to do me!

The foreground field is used for cattle grazing and horses .. but not at the same time!

With all there was to be seen out to sea, it would have been easy to forget the sun was setting in the opposite direction.

When I did turn round this was the scene that greeted me.

My technique is alway the same:

Three exposures -2EV, 0, +2EV and then temperature adjustement using Lightroom and layering with luminosity mask using photoshop. Removal of distracting stuff with the stamp tool or patch tool. High pass filter to enhance details. Then saturation, contrast selectively control, dodge and burn where need...

DRI stand for Dynamic Range Increase. Three RAW files are used to achieve this. Rather than using a software like Photomatix for instance, I simply use mask to blend, my own way, the light, dark and normal shot with Photoshop and Lightroom.. To me, It looks more natural than the usual HDR treatment that I would normally applied.

Dodge and burn là où requis...
