Sunset over Dunlaoghaire, Dublin, Ireland taken from Sandycove. The sun was almost directly over the two Church Spires.
The weather looked promising so I headed to Sandycove to get sunset over Dunlaoghaire.
I had my camera on my Manfrotto 190 tripod

Tonight there was a very pretty sunset at the conclusion of a warm, summer day. Luckily when I took a late afternoon stroll, I took my camera with me so that I could capture the glorious reddish orange hues that filled the skies and gilded the clouds.
The sun is sinking between layers of cloud, veiled by the ambient smoke of dozens of unseasonal bushfires burning in NSW, Australia at the present time.
Sunset memory of a holiday from February 2013 found on revisiting a set of photos from last year. The Lake District mountains in the background, north, across the river.

My technique is alway the same:
Three exposures -2EV, 0, +2EV and then temperature adjustement using Lightroom and layering with luminosity mask using photoshop. Removal of distracting stuff with the stamp tool or patch tool. High pass filter to enhance details. Then saturation, contrast selectively control, dodge and burn where need...
DRI stand for Dynamic Range Increase. Three RAW files are used to achieve this. Rather than using a software like Photomatix for instance, I simply use mask to blend, my own way, the light, dark and normal shot with Photoshop and Lightroom.. To me, It looks more natural than the usual HDR treatment that I would normally applied.

DRI vient de l'anglais Dynmic Range Increase, qui pourrait se traduire par étendue dynamique améliorée. Les même 3 fichiers RAW entrent dans la composition d'un DRI. Plutôt que de se servir d'un logiciel comme Photomatix qui fait tout le travail, je me sers plutôt de masques pour filtrer l'éclairage dans photoshop et Lightroom. De mon point de vue, cette façon de faire donne une image plus naturel que le traitement HDR que j'employais auparavant.

Photo was taken at Knox Mountain Park in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada on 2apr2015. Nikon D800 Nikkor 16-35mm lens @22mm ISO 100 f8 3 exposures and processed in Photomatix Pro, Lightroom and Photoshop
After more-or-less the whole day spent inside, I decided I needed a walk, so I went and catch some sunshine. I went behind the easternmost bridge (Most Mladosti - Bridge of Youth) over the Sava river, as close to moored barges as possible. There are two barges and four barges there, and a smaller motorboat. Here's one of the barges.
Taken with Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital full-frame camera, with adapted Focal MC 28mm F2.8 wide-angle M42 lens, stopped to ƒ/8.

In case you're curious, the lack of details in the background (city and sea) is because there was also a tempered-glass panel next to the table. I suppose it helps that diners are not falling off the edge while enjoying the view! :)
The Peace of Wild Things

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
This panoramic view was created in Photoshop Panoramic by stitching 3 HDR images together. Each HDR image was created in Photoshop HDR Pro by merging 5 images (+.66ev).

I had spent the day in Birmingham being part of fellow photographer Brian Homer's project A Great Day In Birmingham. This was a homage to the famous Art Kane portrait of jazz musicians made in 1958 in New York. I took this photograph as I crossed the bridge from the station at Rowley Regis near where I live. It kind of reflected how I felt after a Great Day.
