Upper Swan, WA. Cootes tanker fuelling up. The manager of this servo, doesn't like motorists pulling up to the bowsers, facing the wrong way. Plenty of drivers are approached before they try to fuel up. And get told to come around in the correct way.

Earlier today, 11 November 2022, Greater Manchester Police's Chief Constable Stephen Watson was joined by Baroness Bev Hughes, Deputy Mayor for Policing, Crime, Criminal Justice and Fire, and family members of fallen colleagues for a remembrance service at Sedgley Park.
All those in attendance proudly stood together to remember colleagues who sadly lost their lives in the line of duty and all others who have died during conflicts throughout history.

Long Key State Park, Florida: Railroad handcar remaining from the Long Key Fishing Camp days. At the beginning of the 20th C., Long Key was home to a fishing camp that was a favorite of the rich and famous and powerful, serviced by a railroad completed in 1912 as well as a miniature railroad that connected the docks to the hotel and camp bungalows. But it was all destroyed by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935, never to be rebuilt, and the railroad was replaced by a highway as cars became the dominant form of transportation. Abandoned and long lost, sections of the camp railroad on Long Key were rediscovered as a result of the devastation from Hurricane Irma in 2017, and are now a part of the restoration project.
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service (FS) Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, Lakeside Ranger District Forester Anita Thompson reveals tree infestation, by peeling the bark from a Ponderosa Pine tree and showing, in the bark, Mountain Pine Beetle, Red Turpentine beetle, and Flathead borers, at the Fleming timber sale near Lakeside, AZ, on Dec 6, 2018.
This is part of the broader Four Forest Restoration Initiative, which is intended to treat more than 2.4 million acres of ponderosa pine forest across northern Arizona.
Current activity includes the use of a feller buncher to cut and then stack trees. A feller buncher then drags the trees to a worksite. There the tree branches are removed in seconds, and the delimbed tree trunk is cut to the desired length for sale by the contractor to lumber mills. The disposition of treetops and tree logs too big for the mill remain the contractor's responsibility. Post-harvest piling of slash/branches/brush are burned when fuels have cured, and weather conditions allow The ultimate goal of the timber sale is to improve forest health and reduce the potential for high-intensity wildfires that could threaten lives, property, and natural resources. The Four Forest Restoration Initiative seeks to increase resilience in the fire-adapted ponderosa pine forest by reducing tree stand densities to a more historical level, which eventually reduces the potential for uncharacteristic wildfire. This work also offers greater protection for residents living in and adjacent to the wildland-urban interface, where developments and forested areas merge.

Dedication to service motivated more than 40 students to trade in their first full week of summer vacation to help others. The high schools from across the Diocese of Saginaw are nearing the end of the week-long service camp, Youth Encounter Service (Y.E.S.). Youth and leaders worked on three houses in conjunction with the One Week, One Street urban revitalization effort. Their efforts along Ezra Rust Avenue included painting siding and walls, repairing porches and roofs and replacing windows. Sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, Y.E.S. allows high school students to learn about and fight poverty through the perspective of Catholic social teaching. Participants stayed at St. Stephen Parish Center in Saginaw, where evening activities included guest speakers, prayer and reflection.
