At a roadside pullout along Utah Scenic Byway 12 with a view looking to the north-northeast to two “sentinel” type hoodoos on an escarpment bluff in Dixie National Forest. My thinking in composing this image was to capture that look with the hoodoos as if they were soldiers on guard, overlooking whatever was needed. The rest of the image was metering to not overexpose, given the direction I was looking with the sun. I was able to make exposure adjustments to keep the colors and not wash them out. Lastly, I liked how the blue skies were that color contrast to complement the image with earth-tones present in the lower portion.
Looking northwest into the Yosemite Valley from the top of Sentinel Dome, on the trail near the end of Glacier Point Road. Photographed 10-11-2018 and processed 09-10-19.
A grouping of six Hawthorn trees on the edge of the Hothorpe Hills, just outside of Sibbertoft in Northamptonshire.
The River Welland rises here and flows for some 65 miles (105 km) generally in a north easterly direction where it feeds into the Wash, a rectangular bay and multiple estuary at the north-west corner of East Anglia on the East coast of England.
Another perspective of the watch tower at Scarborough Beach. Lines and curves everywhere. Stunning subject.
The remains of two giant oaks stand, like sentinels, beside a gap in the woodland canopy. Piper's Hill and Dodder Hill Common, a Worcestershire Wildlife Trust reserve, on a soft, summer morning.
Archive barn owl shot. They've been much more cryptic this year than in previous years, when I was utterly spoilt with sightings.
Two sequoia trees, one living the other lost to time, stand guard in the El Dorado National Forest in northern California.

Photographed in the late afternoon sun when ZJ691 conducted several overshoots at RAF Coningsby.
The Sentinel R.Mk 1 provided long-range, wide-area battlefield surveillance, delivering critical intelligence and target tracking information to British and coalition forces. The aircraft has been operationally deployed in support of operations in Afghanistan, Libya and Mali, and was deployed in support of British and Coalition operations in Iraq and Syria.
Service trials began in 2007 and V(AC) Sqn flew the first operational Sentinel R.Mk 1 mission in November 2008.
The light was not that good and the sky was completely grey, but seeing these two herons and one egret on the roof of this abandoned barn made me want to try to capture the moment as best as I could. I had to move quite a bit to get rid of distractions in the background (buildings and pylons). I wish the background was better and the birds sharper, but I still liked the result enough to share.
still experimenting with focus stacking and exposure blending, mountains are OOF not sure why, and not happy with the sky blending, but thought I would post it anyways. 5 shots for the focus stack and a seperate exposure for the sky.

Bald cypress trees in the Albemarle Sound, Edenton, North Carolina. Moving clouds above and waves beneath blurred by a five minute long exposure.
Last of the pictures of the Scarborough Life Saving Tower with a figure in the landscape. Very much a Jeffrey Smart like image.
A DT&I high switch stand protects the siding at Leipsic as a searchlight signal stands in the background.
The light shining through while driving in this section of the park was like a giant softbox and the leaves on the trees were just glowing. When I saw this tree trunk standing like a great sentinel, it was time to pull over and shoot. Acadia National Park, Maine, USA, October 2018
