Piloted by the cunning and analytical sentient robot Ondai, his ship can transform into a large mecha robot. He wields a laser sword in this mode. Ondai and his mech meet their end during the final race of Oban.
Model of the sentient robot Ondai's ship in it's mech mode from the joint French/Japanese anime Oban Star Racers, depicted here as shown in Episode 17 of the show.
This model is the result of an experiment utilizing an inner frame built using Kre-o joints I have saved from bulk purchases over the past few years. The odd shape of this mech has been something I've wanted to try and utilize the joints for. The Kre-o balljoint size is halfway between the Mixel and Voodoo ball joint sizes that are the Lego standard.
For more info about the character Ondai, take a look here,
I'll be displaying at Brick Fest Live in Charlotte, NC at the end of July! Keep an eye out for this guy if you're planning to attend.
Standing in front of Yakcheonsa, a Buddhist temple of the Jogye Order a few kilometers to the east of Jungmun, in the South Korean island Jeju. The current temple is quite “young” (its construction started only in 1982), but is very impressive. The four-storey, 30m-high, main hall is claimed to be the biggest in Asia. The temple is near a mineral water spring where water flows from the ground year round and was said to wash away the suffering and tears of sentient beings. For centuries the locals referred to the site as “Dwaeksaemi”, a Jejudo word meaning “a mineral spring with good quality water”. A small thatched-roof hermitage, Yaksuam, was located here before the Yakcheonsa temple was built.

Sentient Automaton specializing in holographic illusions and melee combat. Phantasm darts in and out of sight, swiftly striking with its burning plasma chains before disappearing behind like a ghost. Phantasm is equipped with two hologram projectors that allow it to create illusory copies of itself or mask the environment in false images. If Phantasm loses control of the environment, it can recall its projectors and retract its chains to make a speedy getaway.
Build Notes: Here's another one! I incorporated Salvo's original weapons (the chains) into a frame with a better suited color palette. The main gimmick for this one was going to be something very different, but I wasn't liking the direction the build was heading. So now we have little projector plates that attach to its back! The frame of this one is probably the least unique of all the Automatons so far (it's basically Salvo with Maestro's legs), but it is very flexible and sturdy. The name for this one (Echis) is a genus of Viper. Still have some ideas for more automatons, so I'll probably keep making them until I run out of colors, parts, or ideas. Still need to make a name for the series... Vanguard perhaps?
Ventriloquist and Scarface!
This fig uses the Dumbledore head for Wesker, and an old Star Wars Mandalorian head for Scarface, as the over-detailed creepy-eyes clone wars heads fit perfectly for a sentient crime lord ventriloquist's doll!

Every fair-weather Sunday, starting at around 1pm until about 6pm, Argentine Tango dancing takes place under the gazebo at the end of Pier 45. It's called VolvoTango and it's a free, or rather a pay-what-you-wish "milonga" (a social event or location for tango dancing), hosted by Tango instructor Steve Beltzer, who started the outdoor tango events playing music from the car stereo of a Volvo. Beltzer calls it his "mission" to "expose the tango to the public" and get people feeling as passionate about the sexy dance as he does.
I came across an article online that described the tango as not being about leading and following; but about dancing. "A great tanda (a turn of dancing) is magical coming together of two sentient, creative beings ready to make something happen in motion, in harmony with each other, with the music, and with the room. Both individuals are creating the dance in fluid response to the sensuous ebb and flow of the music."
Now, I never travel without my camera and as I pulled it out of the bag on Pier 45, I realized that this "magical coming together of two sentient, creative beings, in harmony with each other, with the music" was not just something you'd hear a judge say on TV's "So You Think You Can Dance". It was what I was witnessing. It really was special and I couldn't help but try to capture it with my camera. I think I might just have succeeded enough. That it was an absolutely glorious day in NYC surely helped. Enjoy...

I have always been fascinated by the natural history of the earth. From its formation as a rocky planet to the first life forms that created our oxygen filled atmosphere, and on through all the myriad forms of life that have filled every niche, no matter how harsh. We know that the building blocks necessary for life seem to be spread fairly uniformly throughout the universe, and that there are potentially billions of planets that could harbor life. Even if you take a very pessimistic view, it would seem that there is very probably millions of other planets with life. If you again take a pessimistic view of how many of those planets have the necessary conditions to evolve sentient beings capable of tool use, that still leaves hundreds or thousands of planets. The next step is the big one. How many of these tool users became technology developers? Maybe only a few, and of those few are any of them coincident with our time as technology users? Given the distances involved and the problem of a very short span where we could have coincided, it seems to me unlikely that we will ever come in contact with sentient beings from another planet. I believe that there is sentient life somewhere in the universe now, that there has been sentient life in places in the past, that is no longer extant, and that there is life evolving towards sentience somewhere that we won't survive to see.

V'ger Cloud
A sentient, massive entity which threatened Earth in 2271, en route to find its "Creator." In doing so, V'Ger destroyed anything it encountered by digitizing it for its memory chamber.
Generating a power field "cloud" about itself of over 22 AUs in diameter, the entity had gained sentience after unknown aliens repaired the old Earth space probe that formed its core — Voyager 6, whose name in corrupted English gave the sentience its name.
The entity, which viewed organic lifeforms as carbon-based units "infesting" starships, later joined with Starfleet's Lt. Ilia and Cmdr. Will Decker and evolved into a higher, yet unknown lifeform.
Christian testimonies | What Should I Do After My Husband Has an Affair? (Part 1)
Just as I was feeling totally hopeless about life, a parent of one of my students preached God’s gospel of the last days to me. I read God's words, “Humanity, having left behind the Almighty’s provision of life, does not know the purpose of existence, but fears death nonetheless. With nothing to depend on and no source of help, yet still reluctant to close their eyes, they brace themselves to drag out an ignoble existence in this world in bodies unanimated by sentient souls. … When you are weary and when you begin to feel something of the bleak desolation of this world, do not be lost, do not cry. Almighty God, the Watcher, will embrace your arrival at any time” (“The Sighing of the Almighty”).
I was wracked with sobs as I felt God soothing me like a mother. God knew how much I was suffering, how much pain I was in and how lonely I felt just then, and He was using His words of comfort to thaw my frozen, deathly still heart. I wasn’t alone or lonely after all, for the Creator was always watching over me, always with me, always waiting for me to come before Him. I was like a lost lamb that had gotten hurt and then finally found its way back home; I had found a support and I had found the courage to go on living. Although my marriage was in ruins and my family broken, I wasn’t alone, for God was my support, and with God beside me, my heart felt peaceful and at ease.
First of all, credit goes to Si-MOCs for his awesome editing of this photo (I added the cheesy text, which Simon probably wouldn't want credit for in the first place). You can see my "editing" on the rest of the pictures in this set, so a huge special thanks to Simon for doing this for me, I think it adds a ton to the presentation.
Created with the most advanced A.I. developed in human history, MATILDA's purpose was to control other autonomous machines to keep them functioning efficiently as a unit. She soon learned we were no longer necessary for her survival and turned on us. Few humans remain; MATILDA's mechs are unstoppable.
This is my largest mech to date. I'm moving to California for work this summer and not bringing my lego stash so this will probably be the last upload until September or so. Again I apologize for the lazy editing, I fiddled with it for far too long and eventually just half-assed it on the last several pics. I hope you like it!
Hello dear friends!
Its been quiet for a while, I just moved to a new city so its been very busy in RL. Not going anywhere though, lots of plans!
There is something important I want to share my thoughts of with you all. AI generated images.
Please pay attention to that wording. I said images. Not Art.
When Artificial Intelligence is proven sentient, yes, I would love to know if robots dream about electric sheep. But for now, lets be precise.... all these AI image generations create nothing, they take images from the collective global creative community, mix them and offer you the mix. Its not creation, its not art. Its stealing. The artists are not credited or paid.
This endangers the livelihood of people like me, who have invested their life in creating a distinctive style.
Unethical customers and websites that sell artwork wont care if its AI or not, they will care its fast and cheap.
Support real artists. AI prompters are not artists, AI generated images are not art.
A nascent global movement is rising, originating in Artsation's tepid minimum effort response to the artists outrage at seeing AI images featured on the site. This is the beginning. AI generated images need to be regulated.
Creativity and Art are one of humanities defining traits. These images endanger these human defining traits.
Artists are not against AI in general, or even against AI images. They can have a few good uses even to artists. They are against the AI generators blatantly stealing their artwork and the prevailing schadenfreude that can be seen in some communities at artists outrage, and having this stolen art images being sold as real art.
Support real art. Yeah, we all play with AI images. But remember that this is not art, they are a soup of stolen references from real artists that spent collectively many millennia perfecting their skills and styles.

They say that the presence of MechaKnights in the battlefield is enough to turn the tide of war. These incredibly complex constructs are built by the most gifted mechsmiths in Aemoruin in order to prevent the loss of human life, increase army efficiency, and increase the army firepower. These sentient golems were equipped with the finest weaponry and Tenoganite imbued armor. Specifically designed for combat scenarios, these machines were programmed to obey their masters and execute their orders with flawless precision.
Master Mechsmith Eudora Cogwright, commissioned by King Tristian, was to construct an agile, well-rounded MechaKnight for the front lines. Surpassing expectations, the MK-Raptor turned out to be one of the most efficient MechaKnights in the battlefield.

Finally! An upload after a long while. Been wanting to make a steampunk knight looking mech. Thank god for Nexo Knights and all the awesome new LEGO elements that came with it! I plan on making more MechaKnights... and/or maybe expanding the world of Aemoruin ...but definitely more MechaKnights!

"The 4-LMBR-34-R (LuMBeR) is a state of the art, fully automated logging robot, capable of clearing up to 200 acres a cycle. There are a variety of arm configurations which can be equipped, but the standard setup includes a Cratech Chainsaw, which can handle trees up to 2 meters wide, and a hydraulic claw for handling and transport. On top of that, our top-of-the-line targeting system allows the machine to accurately handle and cut fresh lumber. The ion batteries last for a whole 24 hours, with just an 8-hour recharge period. When it comes to safety, we don't slack. A biological scanner is implemented directly into the system so that if any sentient beings are detected it will switch into standby mode.
If you wanna log the galaxy right, do it with Karma Robotics."

Genre of sci-fi and space is new for me.
We saw a lot of spaceships in different types, colours and shapes. I want to think that I created something original and new (ha-ha. No). "Polishing" the idea in my head took me about one month, and building process - about 10 hours.
T3 Phage is a type of ships for invasion and integration into interplanetary species. The pilot is highly complicated sentient DNA-form.
Unlike terrestial viruses this ship grows from spore, and have several stages of development.
Hey guys, lets build more micro-bio-spaceships?
"It's name is Oj. It likes lifting things. It is good."

A simple minded ai produced by ASTUT, missing a few key components in it's programming, but it is operable as a sentient individual.

I named it Oj, because it was orange and I don't have much orange, so this is all the orange, sooo....
Oj.
It's been on the shelf for a while now, and it really started out as a simple tablescrap. I never had the heart to tear it apart though, so It's undergone a few revisions, most notably in the waist, which is much different from the last time it was seen on the shelf.

Abaut The Matrix:
The Matrix is a 1999 science fiction film written and directed by The Wachowskis, starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Pantoliano. It depicts a dystopian future in which reality as perceived by most humans is actually a simulated reality called "the Matrix", created by sentient machines to subdue the human population, while their bodies' heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source. Computer programmer Neo learns this truth and is drawn into a rebellion against the machines, which involves other people who have been freed from the "dream world."
The Matrix is known for popularizing a visual effect known as "bullet time", in which the heightened perception of certain characters is represented by allowing the action within a shot to progress in slow-motion while the camera's viewpoint appears to move through the scene at normal speed. The film is an example of the cyberpunk subgenre.[5] It contains numerous references to philosophical and religious ideas, and prominently pays homage to works such as Plato's Allegory of the Cave,[6] Jean Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation[7] and Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.[8] The Wachowskis' approach to action scenes drew upon their admiration for Japanese animation and martial arts films, and the film's use of fight choreographers and wire fu techniques from Hong Kong action cinema influenced subsequent Hollywood action film productions.
The Matrix was first released in the United States on March 31, 1999, and grossed over $460 million worldwide. It was well-received by critics[10][11] and won four Academy Awards, as well as other accolades, including BAFTA Awards and Saturn Awards. Reviewers praised The Matrix for its innovative visual effects, cinematography and entertainment value. The film's premise was both criticized for being derivative of earlier science fiction works and praised for being intriguing. The action also polarized critics, some describing it as impressive, but others dismissing it as a trite distraction from an interesting premise.

This is something I have been trying to imagine. I have many photos that clearly show that hummingbirds can open the ends of their bills. And yet, presumably, the bill is rigid. This happens (it seems) with other birds too, say, ducks, but it is easier to see with hummingbirds.
I'm pretty sure it is a simple thing, probably controlled by moving the the base of the bill. Still, it gives the birds a sentient look. They seem to be speaking.
Hi, Pete! Thanks for everything! I sure need to work on my lens holding technique! Nice photo's of the Cassin's Kingbird, BTW!
Let’s say you’re a bison. You weigh roughly a ton. You eat grass. You look like a sentient ottoman with hooves. And once a year, something primal awakens in you—something that says, “You know what would make me more attractive? Blunt force trauma.”
Enter the rut: bison dating season, when love means never having to say you're sorry for headbutting someone into the next zip code.
I watched these two bulls square off in the Tetons. There was no foreplay. No “Hey, how’s the weather?” Just one long snort, a dirt-scraping foot, and BOOM—skull collision. Dust exploded. Birds fled. Tourists gasped and dropped sandwiches. It was like watching two shag carpets collide at highway speed.
And here’s the amazing part: this wasn’t even the final round. They paused. Glared. Then did it again. And again. Somewhere in the distance, a female bison pretended not to notice, because she had already chosen someone smaller, gentler, and slightly less concussed.
There are no winners in a bison battle. Just bruises, broken pride, and—if you're lucky—a photo that captures the exact moment two prehistoric linebackers in fur coats reenacted a demolition derby using only their heads.
They met with a boom and a buffalo glare,
Like two dump trucks with hooves and a lot of hair.
Why burn down a house to kill a fly when you can fire a Mach 10 bolt of kinetic energy into it instead?
I watched CHAPPiE. I came home and built this. That's how inspiration works, right?
"I thought they smelled bad on the outside!"
―Han Solo.
Tauntauns were a species of non-sentient reptomammals native to the snowy plains of Hoth.
They were used by members of the Rebel Alliance after they domesticated some of them when they built their new headquarters on Hoth. Jabba Desilijic Tiure kept a stuffed tauntaun head in his palace beside Han Solo, who was at the time frozen in carbonite.
Tauntaun's thick skin helped them survive the icy conditions on Hoth that few other creatures could. Sure-footed and furry, the tauntauns were well adapted to the daytime temperature on Hoth, although they could not handle the chilling extremes of the night, which often reached below −60°C.
They had scaly skin beneath their heavy layers of fur and secreted thick, pungent oils to attract mates. Tauntauns had two sets of nostrils, one large and one small. The large set was used for maximum oxygen intake during intense physical activity, while the small set was used during inactive periods and grazing, to keep out snow. Tauntauns could also alternate breathing between the two sets of nostrils, allowing them to regulate body heat.
Their long claws helped them climb icy surfaces and scrape away lichen and small ice plants which often grew in glacial caves and grottos, the crevices serving as their homes due to heat from the planet's core often coming up through the openings. Sunlight that passed through the ice of the caves allowed the small plants to grow, thus providing a source of food for the creatures.
In the wild, tauntauns often traveled in packs of 25, and could burrow into the snow for warmth. Their tails helped to keep balance while running.
The creatures had an odor that was unpleasant to humans due to layers of fatty blubber that helped them acclimate to the temperatures of Hoth, but was apparently nothing compared to the smell from the inside of a fresh tauntaun corpse.

Cham Shan Temple (Ten Thousand Buddas)- The 7 level Asian style building contains precious collections of Buddhist arts and artifacts. A "World Peace Ten Thousand Buddhas Sarira Stupa Temple" has been constructed on 3 acres of land in Niagara Falls in order to facilitate the expounding of Dharma and the propagation of Buddhism. Spreading the Dharma and benefitting all sentiment beings are the Buddhist Order's vows. Since the appearances of statues and stupas facilitate the generation of the Bodhi-mind, raising temples could benefit sentient beings in countless multitudes. Canada is renowned for its serene and picturesque environment. A Bronze Buddha Statue and a Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara's statue are situated in this property so numerous tourists and devotees can cherish this great chance to make offerings and pay homage to the Buddha.

Theophany - Terrible Fate
It was a terrible feeling, knowing everything that was going on, but also understanding there was nothing that could be done to stop It was like being a sentient puppet, strings pulled by the puppeteer and dancing along because the company was the life one signed up for.
Surrounded by lights at all sides, she could feel the eyes staring on her. Sometimes the predators wern't even the enemies.Just beyond the glass she could see the powers at be and their plots, but her only job was to ensure it was done without the populace realizing the truth.
A manufactured war. Superhumans that would literally turn into disturbing creatures when under too much duress.
The glass is starting to break, shattering around her as the secrets continue to reveal themselves. Does she continue to be the willing puppet?

The main attraction at Hase-dera. Kannon-do Hall houses a magnificent statue of Hase Kannon. It is 9.18 meters (30.1 ft.) tall and has eleven heads in addition to its main one: three in front, three to the left and three to the right, plus one at the top and another on back. Each face has a different expression, signifying that the deity listens to the wishes of all types of people. Gold leaf was applied to the statue in 1342. Although Kannon is usually described in English as “the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy,” strictly speaking it is neither masculine nor feminine. Kannon is Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva–a Bodhisattva is a future Buddha, destined for enlightenment, who has vowed to save all sentient beings–and represents compassion, mercy, and love.

Every year within the dark midst of winter is the Portland Winter Light Festival and every year I seem to somehow miss it. But not this past year. Looking at the images now is kind of like seeing a scene from a science fiction novel about a sentient species of bipeds who rely on close social contact to create communities within which they live and work. Eventually that species is afflicted by a rapidly spreading virus that takes advantage of their immensely ingrained social behaviors to spread widely throughout their population. I haven't yet finished this story, so I cannot yet tell you how it ends.

All is quiet in Somewhereville on a late summer morning. However tensions are brewing after the mayor's decision to eliminate benefits to those not born under "the earth's good sun" (i.e. extraterrestrials). In a town where glowing saucer-folk have long lived quietly above the laundromat or in the woods by the pond, it’s a scandal wrapped in static. But relief may be on the way if chimp Chauncey Figgleworth wins the upcoming election. Chauncey has denounced the policy as “speciesist and short-sighted,” vowing universal benefits “for all sentients, terrestrial or otherwise.”
"Why not the chimp?" Remember to vote hippo.

It's a beautiful time of year here in Portland. The skies are transitioning from incessantly overcast to intermittent cloudy, people and pets are out and about with greater frequency, and the trees around the city are in various stages of bloom. Residential neighborhoods turned into sprawling gardens. Every corner a potential photo, like this one just down the street from our house.
There are numerous other major cities around the country that have gorgeous blooming trees, but not many also feature massive conifers. The innate differences between the two make for an interesting juxtaposition as you walk through a gentle 'bokeh' of flowers tumbling down from a Kwanzan Cherry Tree, and peer up at a sentient giant Doug Fir with it's coarse brown bark and spiny dark green needles.
What a beautiful blend.

Every morning in Luang Prabang, Laos, before the sun rises, hundreds of monks leave their monasteries and walk through the streets of Luang Prabang to collect alms. In Buddhism, alms or almsgiving is the respect given by a lay Buddhist to a Buddhist monk, nun, spiritually-developed person or other sentient being. Alms is not charity as presumed by most Western interpreters. It is closer to a symbolic connection to the spiritual realm and to show humbleness and respect.
