"Animals are sentient, intelligent, perceptive, funny and entertaining. We owe them a duty of care as we do to children."--Michael Morpurgo
From the series "INTO AFRICA"
"...It will pervade because there is no duality of self and others within the wisdom that does not discriminate among the three spheres. Self and others are inseparable. Love pervades all sentient beings, it pervades both samsara and nirvana. Immeasurable equanimity pervades everything. When the mind relaxes within the wisdom that does not discriminate among the three spheres, self and others have become identical. That is the dedication with the wisdom realizing the purity of the three spheres. The wisdom realizing the purity of the three spheres simply rests within the view, it naturally pervades."
Garchen Rinpoche
From the book "The Commentary on the Essential Meaning of the Thirty-Seven Practices of Bodhisattvas" on the 37th verse.
Buddhism is a non-theistic religion or philosophy based on variety of traditions, beliefs and practices largely grounded on teachings credited to Siddhartha Gautama — Buddha, "the awakened one", who shared his insights to help sentient beings end their suffering — thus, attaining Nirvana.
Plants suffer too! How many times have we vegetarians/vegans heard this objection! Well, plants do not suffer as a sentient being with a nervous system suffers. So calmly prune your roses, at the right time and in the right way: they will bloom again and will not bear you a grudge.
The Emissary is a biological SHIP, half alien half machine with the properties to transform into a sentient form, to us humans looking most like a exoskeleton, but still humanoid in overall appearance.......
She is out of a caste which represent their spiecies among other sentient life, alas kind of an ambasador, but not quite as she is also of a genetic line of warriors/hunters which gives her the ability to survive in hostile soroundings even when outnumbered to significant numbers.
She has been around for longer than we humans can account for, seen much action through out her galaxy both in hostile invironments but also a lot as envoy to her regency representing her species in important negotiations to both strengthen her Race's positions among the different species, but also to further their influence.
The Build:
Was pretty hard to succeed due to all to little time this year....... but the overall result is quite all right, some details would probably have turned out differently if i have had the time needed..
In the comming week i will make a png.picture for the poster and a show off to further improve what you see here......
Specs:
3000+ pieces
130 studs in overall length
Rest is pure guesswork ;-)

The mosquitoes were still lying dormant, hiding from the cold morning air, at least up here in the shade where I was.
As the sunlight grew and spread to embrace Merriam Lake I shared the beautiful view with this group of trees.
I've seen photos of a single backpacker silhouetted against a glowing peak; I'd love to do a shot like that if I had some one with me but I usually don't. I the one thing that is almost always there are trees and they are just as sentient and just as deserving to be the subject as any wilderness wanderer.
"Wilderness Wanderer", that bring up another thought.
Backpacking, a boring title for something much more than boring. Sure its hard and dusty, dirty, gritty, difficult, challenging, full of sweat sometimes blood and maybe tears as well. I my opinion wilderness wandering is a much better name for what we do, especially those of us who venture off trail into the vast, wide open and unknown wildernesses.
Anyway, if you take time to read this and you like the term, "Wilderness Wandering" share it and spread it around, and who knows, maybe we could start something.
The Necropolis Corridor takes seven standard cycles.
The Necropolis Corridor, a notorious stretch of space, demands an arduous passage. The journey through its treacherous expanse is officially estimated to consume seven standard cycles, a duration that underscores the inherent dangers and the mandatory precautions required for survival. While a theoretical minimum of 5 standard cycles might be achievable under exceptionally fortunate circumstances, such an optimistic timeframe is rarely realised due to the constant and unpredictable challenges presented by the corridor.
The primary factor contributing to this extended travel time is the prevalence of hazardous conditions. The corridor is riddled with fluctuating gravitational fields, unpredictable energy surges, and localised temporal distortions. These phenomena necessitate constant recalibration of navigational systems and demand extreme caution to avoid catastrophic structural failure or temporal displacement. It is a graveyard of unfortunate voyages. Dense fields of wreckage, ranging from microscopic particles to colossal remnants of starships, pose a constant threat of collision. Maneuvering through these fields requires meticulous piloting and significantly reduced speeds to prevent impact. It contains powerful and unpredictable electromagnetic storms that frequently erupt within the corridor, disrupting communications, disabling shields, and interfering with propulsion systems. Navigating these storms demands complete shutdown of non-essential systems and a crawl-like pace to mitigate damage. There are stories, and confirmed reports suggest the occasional presence of opportunistic scavengers or even sentient predatory species that thrive in the hazardous environment. While not a constant threat, their potential presence necessitates vigilance and a readiness for evasive maneuvers, further slowing progress.
These pervasive dangers necessitate reduced speeds throughout the entire journey. Attempting to traverse the corridor at standard transit speeds would exponentially increase the risk of catastrophic failure. Pilots must maintain a vigilant watch, constantly adjusting their vectors, engaging evasive maneuvers, and frequently entering periods of complete standstill to assess the ever-changing hazards. The cumulative effect of these necessary decelerations and stoppages accounts for the extended seven standard cycles required to navigate this perilous thoroughfare successfully. The Necropolis Corridor is not a route for the impatient or the unwary; it is a test of endurance, skill, and an unwavering commitment to safety.

"I was conscious, and that's all. Beyond my consciousness, there was nothing else.
More time passed. I waited for something to happen. Nothing happened.
I was calm. Or frozen. I felt as if I was on the verge of the most terrifying thought in the world, but I wasn't having it quite yet.
Then I had it."

is the Japanese Buddhist and Shinto Festival of Broken Needles, celebrated on February 8 in the Kanto region.
The practice began four hundred years ago as a way for housekeepers and professional needle-workers to acknowledge their work over the past years and respect their tools. In the animist traditions, items as well as humans, animals, plants, and objects are considered to have souls. This festival acknowledged the good given to people by their tools and simple, everyday items.

The purpose of the ~ Usnisa Vijaya Dharani~ sūtra is said to be to help sentient beings in a troubled and tumultuous world. According to this sūtra, beings will leave suffering and obtain happiness, increasing in their prosperity and longevity, remove karmic obstacles, eliminate disasters and calamities, remove enmity and hatred, fulfill all wishes, and quickly be led onto the Buddha's way. It is held by some that when the dhāraṇī is heard, it can imbue the alaya consciousness (base consciousness—all of our memories, ideas, and desires) with pure seeds that will help to lead one to buddhahood.

A song for a Hero by Maxime Ginolin
VIDEO :
Song dedicated to Paul Watson and the amazing crew of Sea Shepherd.
''Saving whales is not just about protecting these highly intelligent, self aware, socially complex wondrous sentient beings. It is also about saving the oceans and in saving the oceans, it is about saving humanity.
Fewer whales means less diversity, less diversity means less interdependence and a diminishment of our oceanic life support system.
Whaling is not only cruel and senseless, it is ecological insanity.
Those nations that slaughter whales like Japan, Norway, Iceland, and Denmark are committing crimes against humanity.''

Amid a Wheat Fied - In un campo di Frumento
Much Better Viewed LARGE On Black
A Wheat-Field Fantasy
As I sat on a Kansas hilltop,
While, far away from my,
Rippled the lights and shadows
Dancing across acres of wheat,
The sound of the grain as it murmured
Wrought a wonder with me.
It turned from the voice of the Prairie
Into the roar of the sea.
And I saw not the running wind-waves,
But an ocean that washed below
In ridging and crumbling breakers
And ceaseless motion and flow;
Then, as a valley is flooded
With opaline mists at morn
Which momently flow asunder
And leave green spaces of corn
There burst.the strangest vision
Up from that'ancient sea.
'Twas not the pearl-white Venus
Anadyomene,
Twas the bobbing ears of horses
And a head with a great hat crowned
And a binder that burst upon me i
Sudden, as from the ground
And the waves gave place to the wheatlands
Myriad-touched 'with gold__
Then my soul felt century-weary
And untold aeons old;
For a rock-ledge sloped beside me
And the lime-traced shells it bore
Had plied that ancient ocean
Each with a sentient oar.
A Poem by Harry Kemp
Yesterday dawned as a rare reprieve from a stretch of tempests and crystalline frosts—a day translucent, as if rinsed by the hand of some patient god. With the early light, I ventured from the upper parking lot of Ordino-Arcalis, in the rugged arms of Andorra. Above me, the mountains loomed, each ridge swathed in fresh, unsullied snow that caught the morning's tentative beams with a shimmer almost shy in its purity. The peaks rose, enshrouded in fog—wisps and veils of vapor that moved with a ghostly grace, casting a spell both solemn and stirring.
I made my way toward the tranquil banks of the Tristaina lakes, where each still surface mirrored the dawn like glass unbroken by the day’s demands. The quiet here felt absolute, a silence rich with its own language. Then, taking a southward path up the slope, I ascended towards the pass lying just left of Pic de Tristaina. As I reached this threshold, I gazed northward and encountered a stark transformation: the slope beyond, angled steeply into the spine of rock, was sheathed in a solid armor of ice—a relic left by the storms. Overhead, clouds surged, borne from France on the back of a frigid northern wind, casting a bruised light over the landscape.
Without crampons, each step down the northern face became a deliberate, cautious act, like a conversation with the earth, uttered in whispers. I chose each foothold along the sharpest edges of rock, the brittle ice beneath me snapping and shattering in a fine, crystalline murmur. The fog hung heavy, so dense that I moved nearly blind, my senses tethered more to sound and feel than sight. Downward I crept, forty minutes of descent through mist thick enough to taste, slipping two hundred meters into the mountain's grasp until, by slow degrees, the veil of fog began to thin, dissolving like a retreating tide.
And then, unveiled before me, Lake Étang Fourcat appeared—a vision draped in hues beyond naming, a pool of liquid green-blue ensconced in the clasp of snow-draped peaks. Despite the chill that clung to the world, the lake lay unbound, fluid in its frozen frame, each ripple untouched by the frost’s bite. I pressed on toward the lake, an hour-long pilgrimage down rough terrain, until I reached its shore and then climbed a craggy outcrop to the west, rising seventy meters above the water’s surface.
Perched on the cliff above the lake, I beheld a scene brimming with a quiet, almost uncanny vitality. The lake lay beneath me, its surface shifting in hues of deep turquoise and aged malachite, like stones worn smooth over countless eons, set delicately in the hollow of the mountains. Veils of fog, thin yet persistent, crept over the water in unpredictable paths, drawn and dispersed by an invisible hand, allowing slender beams of sunlight to break through. Each beam traced lines across the lake, igniting it briefly in ripples of color, as though the water itself bore a pulse, a quiet yet relentless life force.
The fog wove between the ridges with an almost sentient grace, cloaking and revealing at whim, caught up in a dance with the sharp northern wind. As it passed, the fog cast shifting patterns across the lake, its shapes elusive, continuously altered by unseen currents. Occasionally, the wind’s hand lifted a patch of mist just enough to uncover a glint of snowbound peaks in the distance, a glimpse both bright and transient. The fog moved on, reassembling the view, always leaving some element hidden, a landscape ever-changing, never content to settle.
In the quiet above, time seemed both fixed and fluid, each moment as singular as it was fleeting. Below, the lake responded to the sky’s restless breath, the interplay of shadow and light feeling like an exchange, a shared language between the waters and the clouds, an understanding far beyond words. The air was charged with a clarity that seemed to carry a deeper stillness, as though the mountains and lake held within them a secret, a truth too expansive and quiet for speech.
But then, with an abrupt shift, a great, low cloud surged from the north, thick and laden, swallowing the lake and the mountains in one sweeping movement. The air grew sharp and chill, the warmth that had graced the lake now swiftly overtaken by this mass of cold fog. What had just been a vision of color and light transformed instantly into a shrouded world, its hues washed away, leaving only shadows and a biting cold that pressed close around me. I wrapped myself tighter in my down jacket, pulled on gloves against the growing cold, and took up my journey once more, the trail ahead cloaked in this dense, frosty obscurity that stretched on for hours.
In that shrouded, spectral walk, it was as if I moved through a land both known and unknowable, each step a meditation on the strange beauty of a world balanced so precariously between warmth and cold, light and shadow. And in that vast and quiet solitude, my mind stilled, a quiet joy swelling within me—the kind only found in the presence of something grander than oneself, vast and unspeaking, yet filled with a life that defies naming.

They say that the presence of MechaKnights in the battlefield is enough to turn the tide of war. These incredibly complex constructs are built by the most gifted mechsmiths in Aemoruin in order to prevent the loss of human life, increase army efficiency, and increase the army firepower. These sentient golems were equipped with the finest weaponry and Tenoganite imbued armor. Specifically designed for combat scenarios, these machines were programmed to obey their masters and execute their orders with flawless precision.
Master Mechsmith Eudora Cogwright, commissioned by King Tristian, was to construct an agile, well-rounded MechaKnight for the front lines. Surpassing expectations, the MK-Raptor turned out to be one of the most efficient MechaKnights in the battlefield.

"Look, there's no need to be afraid of these guys. These androids were originally created to test new Artificial Intelligence neural networks. But, as is expected these days, they become sentient and left their masters. They banded together and named themselves 'The Collectors'. All they ever do is simply collect rare items from around the galaxy and store them in huge warehouses. They mostly keep to themselves. People are scared of them, but I don't know.. not sure they really make a big enough impact to the public."
It's been a little while since I have posted anything. Being in college definitely puts a damper on my time and ability to build.
Even still, I try to build as much as I can. Honestly, this is just me showcasing some building techniques and expressing my addiction to crates. Enjoy!
A top secret, part biological, sentient combat vessel which can ensnare opponents in its frontal appendages or engage stealth mode by releasing a cloud of dark matter. Particularly fond of fighting space whales.
This is the next build in my line of creature themed spaceships, following on from my Manta Ray and Goliath mocs.
Sentient Combat Automaton specializing in long range sniping and marksmanship. Aquila Omen rarely enters the battlefield, instead striking from a safe distance using its Sniper Arm. It's rifle uses special Phase-Tech bullets that can phase through all obstacles between Omen and its target. The scope on Omen's arm can switch between IR and X-ray modes, making it nearly impossible to hid from Omen's piercing shots. Omen is not suited for close combat, instead relying on support from other Vanguard automatons such is Bolide to protect it. Omen is particular calm in its demeanor. It is often seen staring at trees, birds, and flowers with an almost human-like sense of wonder.
Build notes;
Another quick build. This one only took a few hours to put together. I tried scaling down my standard Vanguard frame for Omen's torso and legs, and I am really happy with the result. I feel this one has a bit more personality than some of the others. Since Omen is so small, it poses really well. Also, the clip on the sniper rifle can be removed. And... teal parts! yay! I finally got a chance to use this rare color! What fun. Now, time to get back to those bonkle builds I've been putting off.

"Katherine's memory came back to her. She remembered how astonishing it was to encounter other sentient beings in the most ordinary situations. Here they were, filled with mysterious intentions and needs, moving about in close proximity. The thought of making contact with these vibrant vessels naturally caused a rush in her of warmth and alarm. Only yesterday she had regarded such fugitive connections as commonplace. Her far-seeing eyes now rejuvenated, Katherine knew that in this landscape lit by stars and electricity, there were multitudes bearing their fragile lives as carefully as they knew how, and at any moment--ready or not--a person utterly unknown or strangely familiar to her might explode into view. The tricks one's rusty memory can play upon you. How bizarrely foolish of her ever to have been miserly with attentiveness and love." ~ George Toles, from a Facebook status update, January 20, 2017

Star Wars is an American epic space opera media franchise created by George Lucas, which began with the eponymous 1977 film[a] and quickly became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. The franchise has been expanded into various films and other media, including television series, video games, novels, comic books, theme park attractions, and themed areas, comprising an all-encompassing fictional universe.[b] Star Wars is one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time.
The original 1977 film, retroactively subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope, was followed by the sequels Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983), forming the original Star Wars trilogy. Lucas later returned to the series to write and direct a prequel trilogy, consisting of Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). In 2012, Lucas sold his production company to Disney, relinquishing his ownership of the franchise. This led to a sequel trilogy, consisting of Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015), Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017), and Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
All nine films, collectively referred to as the "Skywalker Saga", were nominated for Academy Awards, with Oscars going to the first three releases. Together with the theatrical live action "anthology" films Rogue One (2016) and Solo (2018), the combined box office revenue of the films equate to over US$10 billion, making Star Wars the third-highest-grossing film franchise in cinematic history.
Premise
The Star Wars franchise depicts the adventures of characters "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away"[2] across multiple fictional eras, in which humans and many species of aliens (often humanoid) co-exist with droids, which may be programmed for personal assistance or battle.[3] Space travel between planets is common due to lightspeed hyperspace technology.[4][5][6] The planets range from wealthy, planet-wide cities to deserts scarcely populated by primitive tribes. Virtually any Earth biome, along with many fictional ones, has its counterpart as a Star Wars planet which, in most cases, teem with sentient and non-sentient alien life.[7] The franchise also makes use of other astronomical objects such as asteroid fields and nebulae.[8][9] Spacecraft range from small starfighters to large capital ships, such as the Star Destroyers, as well as space stations such as the moon-sized Death Stars.[10][11][12] Telecommunication includes two-way audio and audiovisual screens, holographic projections, and hyperspace transmission.[13]
The universe of Star Wars is generally similar to the real universe but its laws of physics are less strict allowing for more imaginative stories.[14] One result of that is a mystical power known as the Force which is described in the original film as "an energy field created by all living things ... [that] binds the galaxy together".[15] The field is depicted as a kind of pantheistic god.[16] Through training and meditation, those whom "the Force is strong with" exhibit various superpowers (such as telekinesis, precognition, telepathy, and manipulation of physical energy);[17] it is believed nothing is impossible for the Force.[18] These superpowers are wielded by two major knightly orders at conflict with each other: the Jedi, peacekeepers of the Galactic Republic who act on the light side of the Force through non-attachment and arbitration, and the Sith, who use the dark side by manipulating anger, fear and aggression.[19][20] While Jedi Knights can be numerous, the Dark Lords of the Sith (or 'Sith Lords') are intended to be limited to two: a master and their apprentice.[21]
The franchise is set against a backdrop of galactic conflict involving republics and empires, such as the evil Galactic Empire.[22] The Jedi and Sith prefer the use of a weapon called the lightsaber, a retractable blade of plasma that can cut through virtually any surface and deflect energy bolts.[23] The rest of the population, as well as renegades and soldiers, use plasma-powered blaster firearms.[24] In the outer reaches of the galaxy, crime syndicates such as the Hutt cartel are dominant.[25] Bounty hunters are often employed by both gangsters and governments, while illicit activities include smuggling and slavery.[25]
While the franchise is best-known as an archetypal space opera, the combination of science fiction and fantasy elements makes Star Wars very universal, capable of telling stories of various genres...Wikipedia

My chasis is better against the sandstorm and am unaffected by the harsh sun. It has been 46 days since last contact with any sentient beings. With no scrap salvaged from the town of Whitsol, I am going to the next town on the list, Valkrathe. At current speed, i should reach Valkrathe in 17 days.
I'll be doing a small post apocalyptic series over these next couple weeks. Hope you enjoy!

"When one accepts the obvious truth that *all* sentient non-humans are individuals, not things, deserving of life, basic respect and justice—and that the distinctions we make between species are arbitrary and designed to put us in positions of power and domination over them which invariably leads to victimization, exploitation and injustice—the only acceptable choice is to live vegan.
Exploitation of the vulnerable is NEVER acceptable. To live vegan is to take a stand against this exploitation. To live non-vegan is to directly participate in it for personal gain. The choice is clear—it’s time to live vegan."

Tauntauns (pronounced /ˈtɔːn-tɔːn/) were a species of non-sentient reptomammals native to the snowy plains of Hoth. They were used by members of the Rebel Alliance after they domesticated some of them when they built their new headquarters on Hoth. Jabba Desilijic Tiure kept a stuffed tauntaun head in his palace beside Han Solo, who was at the time frozen in carbonite.
The fjord lay beneath a canopy of turbulent clouds, a vast expanse of ink-dark water trembling under the lash of relentless winds. Mountains surged from the depths, their slopes marred by ancient fissures, their shoulders draped in moss-drenched hues that shifted with each fleeting shaft of light. These peaks, silent titans, absorbed the storm’s icy breath as though preparing for an unseen reckoning.
Above, the sky seethed—an alchemy of gunmetal and storm-churned silver, where clouds swelled and twisted like ponderous leviathans. The wind screamed across the jagged islands, a chorus of unseen specters, bending stubborn grasses, slicing through the cragged coastline. This wind bore tales from forgotten realms, whispered across restless waters, and gnawed at the land’s periphery like a slow, deliberate erosion of existence itself.
This was Hadselfjord, poised on the threshold between summer’s dissolution and winter’s inexorable dominion. The air held a crystalline sting, sharp enough to etch clarity into the marrow of your bones. Warmth was a stranger here, banished by the austere beauty of endurance, by the naked grandeur of a world stripped to its essence. The sea, restless and opaque, reflected a sky grown impatient, while the mountains stood unyielding, their jagged crowns lacerating the underbellies of migrating clouds.
The storm was no mere meteorological tantrum but a sentient force—a visceral reminder that the north lived by its own cryptic rhythms, where earth and sea gnawed perpetually at the edges of each other’s realms. Here, existence narrowed to a fragile filament, and the world beneath your feet seemed to shiver with the knowledge that all ground was borrowed, all shelter provisional.
In this vortex of cloud and current, of chill breath and ancient stone, human presence felt like an ephemeral scratch against eternity’s surface. The storm bore no witness, offered no approval or denial. Yet in its sublime indifference, there pulsed a paradoxical reverence—a raw and wordless truth: that here, in the convergence of fury and stillness, the world revealed itself without embellishment, boundless, indifferent, and utterly, magnificently, alive.

Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are the only two places in the whole of Tibet that were visited by Lord Buddha, accompanied by five hundred Arhats. During the turning of the Three Wheels of the Dharma, Buddha Shakyamuni extensively explained the merits of building images. So Indra (the king of gods) offered precious articles of the gods, Ananda (the king of Serpents or Nagas) offered precious articles of the Nagas and Bimbisara (the king of Magadh) offered gold and silver, etc. to the Buddha and requested him to have three images of the Buddha made, as a means of generating merit for the sentient beings in the future. The total distance, covered in a complete circumambulation of Mount Kailash according to the route charted by Gotsangpa, is 52km and takes about 13 to 15 hours. Tibetan pilgrims generally start early in the morning and complete one circumambulation by nightfall. Most Tibetan pilgrims do three to thirteen circumambulations of Mount Kailash. There are some who do 108 circumambulations of Mount Kailash. tibet-incense.com/blog/circling-kailash-and-manasarovar/

Piloted by the cunning and analytical sentient robot Ondai, his ship can transform into a large mecha robot. He wields a laser sword in this mode. Ondai and his mech meet their end during the final race of Oban.
Model of the sentient robot Ondai's ship in it's mech mode from the joint French/Japanese anime Oban Star Racers, depicted here as shown in Episode 17 of the show.
This model is the result of an experiment utilizing an inner frame built using Kre-o joints I have saved from bulk purchases over the past few years. The odd shape of this mech has been something I've wanted to try and utilize the joints for. The Kre-o balljoint size is halfway between the Mixel and Voodoo ball joint sizes that are the Lego standard.

I'll be displaying at Brick Fest Live in Charlotte, NC at the end of July! Keep an eye out for this guy if you're planning to attend.
Standing in front of Yakcheonsa, a Buddhist temple of the Jogye Order a few kilometers to the east of Jungmun, in the South Korean island Jeju. The current temple is quite “young” (its construction started only in 1982), but is very impressive. The four-storey, 30m-high, main hall is claimed to be the biggest in Asia. The temple is near a mineral water spring where water flows from the ground year round and was said to wash away the suffering and tears of sentient beings. For centuries the locals referred to the site as “Dwaeksaemi”, a Jejudo word meaning “a mineral spring with good quality water”. A small thatched-roof hermitage, Yaksuam, was located here before the Yakcheonsa temple was built.
