Just got this off eBay. It's the cheapest beam sensor I could find and for what I'm using this for it's perfect. The more expensive ones seem to have some sort of pulse stretching on the output but this just clicks the relay as fast as you break the beam. These are also quite a nice quality and even have all the mounting hardware included.I just hope they last a few years before anything breaks.
Blowing out the sensor on my Sony A330 gets rid of some of the small specks but the large blobs remain.
I wasn't sure if I needed this for cleaning my own sensor, but I got it just in case. I'm glad I did, because I know I have dust on my sensor, but I wasn't able to see any with the naked eye. Hopefully this will help.

The running loop sensors are set into the path inside a custom built chamber. The cables run down the slope (left) and link to a display monitor.
When the weather warms, and the Macadam cures, the surface of the path will be coated with red running track paint. Two lanes will also be marked out.
In between the covers marks the finish of the 50m sprint straight and the start of the running loop.

Here are the results of a little test. Shot at f32 using my 70-200 f4 L lens (so I know the glass is good).
I get the same spots in the same position as I do on my standard 18-55. And boy is it filthy!
So, I need to clean it, any recommendations anyone?
Shooting a DX sensor, such as the D300, has many advantages for people who can't afford to empty their bank account (or have nothing left to empty like me!) to purchase a massive telephoto lens. A 70-200mm f/2.8 mounted on a DX body gives you the same field of view as a 105-300mm f/2.8 on an FX body. A 300mm f/2.8 for the price of a 70-200mm f/2.8 is a pretty good deal, plus you don't even need a teleconverter!
