I was contacted recently to see if I was able to do a photo shoot for the back cover of Dr. Wright's newest book. She found me through my pet photography website but had no pets. I said yes and we were able to squeak in an outdoor shoot the day before a heavy snowfall. While chatting at the location of my choosing, I discovered that we had met years ago when she showed me her former home below our location in Sunnyside. It turns out that she had asked me if I could provide an oil painting of her original home before the new one was constructed (I was trying to see if there was a market for oil paintings of homes prior to getting into photography). Sadly to say we never finalized that deal but I'm very happy to have had second opportunity to meet her. Can't wait to see the book.

Expect disappointments, mistakes, and very different perspectives. But always check for honesty, and you will have to ask the same of yourself.
Someone who knows their flaws but lives fine with it, like, that’s not that important… will be happier than someone who seems particularly perfect from all sides.
Don't get caught in their deep greedy web for the rest of your untruth life.
It was fun to be on a big ad on the back of busses and on the subway. I especially felt proud to be ‘advertising’ that I was an anarchist (although my mother thought it could be a dangerous thing to do). I rode the subway a few times and the ad was in the same car I was, no one looked at me or noticed I was on an ad ;)

North Carolina National Guard Soldiers put their engineering skills to the test at the NCNG’s armory in Butner N.C., July 25. The engineers use their annual training to improve their skills and readiness while upgrading NCNG facilities. “It is with training for them (Soldiers) and it costs less than if we hired someone to do it,” said Tony Ferguson, a retired NCNG Army Colonel and current NCNG contractor. Love what you had put yourself up to, work through the night, take it home, keep it a defined objective, that will keep you on track and make the most of your available time and attention span.
Soon you are discovering an additional time when the casual distraction is not able to get to you anymore, your workday will seem shorter and goes easier than before, with more work done in the end.
The Selfhelp Home was founded in 1938, as the Holocaust began, as a volunteer mutual-aid society where refugees and survivors could find community and rebuild their lives. Selfhelp officially became a ‘Home” in 1951 when it purchased the Drexel Mansion in Hyde Park, housing 19 residents. As the need surpassed space, Selfhelp purchased and rebuilt the building at 908 W. Argyle St. and subsequently expanded and purchased the 920 W. Argyle building next door several years later.
The organization in its advertising touts its service to Holocaust survivors. Here’s my experience. A friend’s mother was evicted from The Selfhelp Home some ten years ago because of insufficient funds. She was not only a survivor but as an inmate at Buchenwald was a slave laborer in the Mittlewerk bunker machining part for V1 and V2 rockets. The Jewish Federation of Chicago (the home is not part of the JUF) failed to assist her either.

It is illegal to build permanent structures in the slum, so MYTO improvised a school building, constructing a rickety classroom out of iron sheets over a stick frame. It looks like a kind of firmament here to me ... all the holes like little stars.
I first visited this school back in 2005; it hasn't changed much, but it's still there. That's a good thing. They have acquired a new storage cabinet and some new blackboards. They need so much more.
