This is the same photo as last week (see comments). Straight conversion to b&w seemed to be lacking something, so I added some colour from the trucks back in.

SEEN IN EXPLORE, 5 June 2011
My beautiful niece,Poppy, married the young man of her dreams yesterday.Doesn't she look radient!!
This autumn I've seen a lot of these Speckled wood butterflies. In fact I saw one today! The day I was out on the walk along the old railway between Peel and St Johns they were the commonest butterfly seen. There were dozens on them. This species seems to be benefiting from the milder winter and the summer sunshine. Its still relatively mild and I'm hopeful of seeing them well into October.
I spend some time near a lake yesterday. I had planned to take some shots of the autumnal scenery but the autumn colours weren't really lovely anymore. Instead I focused on the local fauna and this Grey Heron allowed me to get quite close. When I took this shot he intensely watched the lake surface, probably looking for a meal.

Für "Smile on Saturday" Thema "Selective Colour" (30.05.2020)
Wish you all a "Happy smile on saturday" and stay healthy.
I don't do selective colour very often and it really didn't do much for me this week.
HCS! 'cause, you know, selective colour...
I met this chap whilst in a pet shop - his owner was out for a wander with him, and this was taken outside the shop against an abandoned shop front which was unfortunately almost the same colour as the owl.
Apparently he's a mean, moody fellow...

wishing you ALL a wonderfull Eastern..go easy on the bunnies !!
Played around with a black and white conversion and selective desaturated colouring...the original wall was a dark blue/green and the tulips were a bright red...
Shooting some images on Leake Street last night and this Mini drove down........... Private tour car showing some tourists the sights.
I took the opportunity to add another car image to my portfolio in one of my favorite locations in London.
This is my step-grandaughter, aged 4. A member of Nyx's pack :o) Hope you like my first attempt at selective colour. I am aware that many groups don't allow pictures of children. That's OK - I just liked her a LOT ! Thanks for your visit, Alan, Carol, Oliver and Nyx - you made my birthday very special. And thank you Christina for letting me take your portrait. You are very special too. And you weren't even 'posing' !! :o)
Lots of new buds, I was surprised how much these sycamore saplings have opened....
I used selective colour in picasa to highlight the leaves...
We are back to school/work this week.....hope you all have a happy Monday :-)))
Call me a weirdo, butt...
I initiated the processing of this photo with selective colour, deeming that the surroundings distracted from my subjects in the comp; i.e., the people. Ya so, you might say, where's the 'weirdo' part? Ha! Well, glad you asked!
The young lady taking the cell phone photo is my daughter, Elizabeth. I paint in selective colour and, well... when I gets to the parts where a normal dad shouldn't be looking, I gets all squeamish-like!
Of note: When using the same technique on the young mother prancing up the street with her hubby and child, that didn't happen! Go figure.
Messing with colours!
Thankyou all for all the comments and favorites on my pictures! I will try my best to check out all your pictures! :D
The Sound of Trees
I wonder about the trees.
Why do we wish to bear
Forever the noise of these
More than another noise
So close to our dwelling place?
We suffer them by the day
Till we lose all measure of pace,
And fixity in our joys,
And acquire a listening air.
They are that that talks of going
But never gets away;
And that talks no less for knowing,
As it grows wiser and older,
That now it means to stay.
My feet tug at the floor
And my head sways to my shoulder
Sometimes when I watch trees sway,
From the window or the door.
I shall set forth for somewhere,
I shall make the reckless choice
Some day when they are in voice
And tossing so as to scare
The white clouds over them on.
I shall have less to say,
But I shall be gone.
