This local billboard has been up for years, but passing by it 2 days before the anniversary of 9/11 and planned Qur'an-burning by a tiny church downstate really gave some particular power to it. (It's above I guess owned by a Christian optometrist's lab which is why they also have the 'vision' quote from Proverbs.)
I give to you a new commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. John 13:34

The question is, will you allow Him to give you the strength you need or will you keep trying to rely on your own very limited strength?

I'm assuming this was an office in the church at one time, given that this headstone was erected by the Scripture Readers Society of Ireland.
The song "Search, Ponder, and Pray" may be familiar to you, but what does it mean to ponder the scriptures? Do we simply think about the people described in them? Do we relate their stories unto ours? Do we seek to dive deeply into the letters on the page? Do we give life unto the words of the past? Pondering the scriptures is so much more than a daily reading, and it is much more rewarding. Through pondering and thinking on the principles, accounts, and doctrines of the Book of Mormon (as well as the other books given unto us) our minds will be opened to a new world of knowledge and wonder. We will be able to receive strength, guidance, and comfort from black words on a white page when we read and ponder with faith. These words were recorded for these latter-days. They are for me. They are for you. Let us dive into the instruction guide we have been delivered, so that we may be able to personally thank those who have righteously contributed to such a great work of wonder when we see them in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Made for my friend's 40th birthday. Used Verna Mosquera's fabric and Tanya Whelan's check and green picnic rose and Valori Wells vines. Cream minky on back.
I decided not to do the coin pocket thing this time. (I have no fabric glue, and anyway, I think I like the look better without, for this fabric.) At present there's no closure - I'll think about adding velcro later.
I used the pattern from here:
