That's mama rabbit and papa rabbit in Tibetan. They are in love, can't be apart. But when held together in your fist, they will spawn lots of little bunnies. The monks loved it!
This is their idea of being an audience: they were all over me!
Before taking a pilgrimage with Banaras Hindu University students, Yeb Saño took an unplanned visit to Sarnath. The city is where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna.

Nous étions en Inde pour le tournage d'un documentaire sur la spiritualité indienne en avril et mai 1986. Le film s'intitule SADAHNA. Il a été réalisé par Jean-Pierre Piché. J'en assurais la prise de son.
Formerly known as Isipatana, Sarnath is famous as the site where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, or where Buddha preached his first sermon. It is one of the four main Buddhist pilgrimage destinations and has been developed as a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists from India and abroad.

Went to Sarnath on Dec 11, 2008. Sarnath is less than 30k from Varnasi.. but road conditions and the crowd make it a ardous journey.
Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first preached to 5 of his disciples..
Also, we saw a huge tomb built by King Asoka plus the excavations of a huge Monstary..
Overall a nice place to visit..
Didn't have time to visit a Govt run museum.. that's where the Ashoka Chakra.. emblem of India is kept..

Sarnath is a city located 13 kilometres north-east of Varanasi near the confluence of the Ganges and the Gomati rivers in Uttar Pradesh, India. The deer park in Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna.
Here the Buddha delivered his first sermon, and "The whole ten-thousand-fold cosmos shook and a limitless radiance extended throughout the cosmos surpassing even the radiance of the deities." Would have been cool to be there.
The Chaukhandi Stupa was built during the Gupta period (4th and 5th century CE) and is believed to mark the place where the Buddha first met a group of five ascetics (who were later to become his first disciples). Rectangular in shape, with steps leading upwards, it was decorated with sculptures of the Buddha. The octagonal structure right on top is an addition by a minister's son during the Mughal period, in 1588 CE. Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh, India, 5th century CE.
