Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. some B/W is only inevitable :)

this is the place where the Buddah made his first speech to 5 disciples, the day we went it was full of Tibetan Monks waiting for the Dalai lama whose visit was due next day. I felt quite emotional yet calm to be there. on top of the hill the silence was loud....

Also referred to as Isipatana, this city is mentioned by the Buddha as one of the four places of pilgrimage to which his devout followers should visit, if they wanted to visit a place for that reason. It was also the site of the Buddha's Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, which was his first teaching after attaining enlightenment, in which he taught the four noble truths and the teachings associated with it.

Uno de los lugares sagrados del budismo ya que fue en este lugar donde Buda dio su primer sermón.

"The oldest living city in the world".

This is a picture that I shot last Sunday as I was living the Tibetan Temple in Sarnath near Varanasi (Benaras).

The car was along the wall of a house which is just in front of the Temple and I saw this young boy who was doing his homeworks outside in the garden.

The remembrance of my schoolyears came back and I wanted to give to this image a vintage look.

I like the sun coming from the back which gives space between the boy and the background, I think this is what brings that timeless touch to this image.

Education here is different to the one we get in Europe, it would be too long to explain here with a few words but I think that teachers try to allow their pupils to find the real significance of life...

"India is not Just a Place" by Sri Chinmoy:

INDIA IS NOT JUST A PLACE.

India is not just a people.

India is the celestial music,

And inside that music

Anybody from any corner of the globe

Can find the real significance of life.

Ladies help with the on-going Archaeological dig at Sarnath, India.

Archaeological remains of Sarnath are located at north-eastern tip of the city of Varanasi (India).

Sarnath is one amongst the four most sacred places for the Buddhist where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon after attaining enlightenment.

The archaeological significance of the place was first brought to the notice of modern world by Mr. J. Duncan in 1798 who gave an account of the casket of green marble inside a stone box exposed by the workmen of Jagat Singh, the Dewan of King Chet Singh of Benaras while dismantling the Dharmarajika stupa to exploit building materials. Excavations carried out by Archaeological Survey of India on large scale from time to time has revealed a number of monasteries, stupas, temples, inscriptions, sculptures and other antiquities ranging in date from 3rd century B.C. to 12th century A.D.

TKD WDP4B 40069 rolls out with 04016 Anand Vihar - Raxaul Sadbhavna Express on the mainline at Kadipur. The pilot had just let loose the throttle when I clicked the picture as the starter signal was cleared a bit late for a train which had to skip the station.

On the other hand, all the other trains on the down line including mine (05018 Kashi Express) were detained since more than an hour due to damaged OHE wire ahead near Sarnath. The annoyed, helpless and bored crowd can be seen scattered around the tracks, a typical Indian Railways scene!

A tree had fell on a running WAP7 locomotive earlier in the morning due to heavy thunderstorms in the area, which also led to breakage and failure of overhead electrical supply. Since all the trains are running on electric traction these days, we had to wait untill the fault was overcome by the railway staff. Down Sadbhavna (04015) was waiting behind us a station back (Rajawari).
