I intended to play a group or two today but my plans changed when I saw this sapling. I just had to copy talulayu's awesome yoga photos beneath it! This is a lot harder now at 42 than it was when I was 11. Then again, I never did a backbend and photography at the same time!

it occurs to me that

saplings bend and sway with the seasons

but older trees grow brittle and break

crashing down to the prairie floor

It's more than just a bridge, though. It's really a metaphor for how I've been feeling lately. I've been feeling broken and beaten up by a series of rejections. I'm now taking a stand: This is me proving that I'm more like that sapling than an old tree. I will bend. I will not be broken. I will weather the winter and emerge green and reaching and growing again.

For Today's Random Fact from My So-Called Life: This is the debut of the custom tattoo that resides on my left thigh. It's a little something I put together to honor my daughters and our bond. It's a one-of-a-kind piece so I haven't ever put photos of it online. It combines Jim Brandenburg's mother wolf and her cub, a Native American dream catcher, and a barred owl. All packed with symbolism. :) I'll get some better shots to post.

This is another of my backlit series of images. I had to lie on a groundsheet in with hoards of blackflies and mosquitoes sizing me up for breakfast.

The conditions we endure to get that shot !!!
