Seattle Design Nerds take another run at an AR Sandbox

This sandbox are meant for children to exercise their creativity. But it is quite small, and only about four children can play.

Watch out for the bark of this sandbox tree - it´ll hurt you, but less than the spikes on the bark of the Pejivaye Palm.

As part of seeking more ideas about what the community wants in the new Downtown Park, the City of Redmond installed a wooden stake community art project in the Downtown park. It's inspired by artist Jill Anholt from British Columbia, Canada, the art project has about 1,000 brightly colored wooden stakes, painted by local elementary school kids and teens.

Kids love to experiment with the world around them - it's how they learn. Many times they do things that we adults know aren't the smartest things to do... Here David experiments with sand to the face. He decides he doesn't like the sand in his mouth and eyes, gives me a confused look followed by a sly grin, then goes back about his business of being a 2 year old who is learning by trial and error.
