CONCOURS: L’offre d’Emploi et le Studio Graphique TIPHYS soutiennent les jeunes créatifs avec un concours mensuel… ICI
It turned cold here so I've gone into my winter hibernation mode and started editing pictures from my travels this year. First up for bringing back the spring was an April trip to New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. This is the big gypsum sand dune sandbox at White Springs National Park, New Mexico. White Sands is home to the largest gypsum dunefield in the world (275 square miles).

It's funny to see how the sand turns from a pile of grains lying under our feet, turns into forms that begin to surround and block the light for us ... Obviously, a person continues this game that captured many in childhood ... So who plays with whom? Sand or the one who smiles looking at this sandbox?

❤ I like this picture better, but the objects are not neatly arranged horizontally. So it is no knolling...

Deze vind ik leuker, maar het speelgoed liigt niet netjes horizontaal gearangeerd in rechte hoeken, het is dus letterlijk gestuntiel ...:-)
Some Afghan guys I made. (pic actually taken in a sandbox). Enjoy!
Also, I have a recent GI Brick order in so fresh stuff.
We've been back in Thailand for nearly 7 weeks now after our 6 week trip to the USA. Initially we had to 'quarantine' for 14 days on our return but luckily for us that involved a two week stay on the island of Phuket where there is a 'Sandbox' scheme operating.
The Sandbox is the Thai Government's pilot scheme for reopening tourism to Thailand. Tourism is one of the largest industries in Thailand and Covid has ravaged the economy throughout the country with the lack of visitors during the pandemic. Vaccinated tourists are allowed to enter Thailand on the island of Phuket (and Samui) where they must stay for 14 days. After that they may travel freely throughout the country. Many Thai people and expats that are returning from overseas are using the Sandbox as a much more palatable way of doing the quarantine time. The alternative is staying in a specially adapted hotel where you are confined to your room for the 14 days and have all of your necessary items like food and groceries delivered.
Following our quarantine we stayed on the island for a further 3 weeks with permission from our school. All lessons continue to be online at this time. We returned to Bangkok last week
The white-tailed prairie dogs at the headquarters of the Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge must get a lot of visitors: they showed little sign of concern with my nearby presence. It was getting late in the afternoon when I came upon the refuge and I still had miles to go before I slept so I did not get to spend much time exploring this prime wildlife area near Walden, the self-proclaimed moose capital of Colorado. Unfortunately for me, the mooses (mice?) weren't holding up their end of the deal that day.

I promised Edie that we would make her a sandbox at our summer cottage. I brought it all along but just found the time. She loves it!
One of those rare moments, where it all seems to fall in the right place. Happy with this shot:)
Have a good weekend!
Thanks for having a look! All faves and comments are highly appreciated!
You do me (and hopefully yourself) a big favour by pressing L and then F11, to view at maximum size.
This is the black and white version of a photo I took at twilight at the dunes in death valley. It seems more dramatic in black and white, and although I strongly prefer color, this is one of the few photos that I think might be even stronger without color. But really it could go either way, and I personally love them both.
After a 38 mile run up the mainline from Pan Am New Hampshire Northcoast train D7 (BODO when operating on Pan Am) dropped their train on the NHN mainline (the former Boston and Maine Conway Branch) back by the shops and ran up the the spur here to the sand pit. They have grabbed a cut of loaded hoppers that they will take back west across busy Route 16 that they will shove off north of the junction on the stub of the main before gathering up the empties they'd brought north and making a second trip in here to spot them up before calling it a day to start their weekend. Three quarters of the railroad's roster is seen here, EMD GP38-2s NHN 3823 (blt. Sept. 1978 as CR 8242), leased FURX 5509 (blt. Mar. 1970 as high nosed straight GP38 SOU 2801) and NHN 3825 (blt. Sept. 1978 as CR 8244).

Don't have any sand to put in the kids sandbox? Fill it with shelled corn instead. Photographed at Pheasant Run Farm near Belle Plaine in Benton County, Iowa #PheasantRunFarmIowa

I don't know how many of you grew up playing in a sandbox or making sandcastles at the beach and thinking that was a lot of sand. Let's just say my view of sand changed when I came here! This is hundreds of feet of sand piled on top of each other that goes on for miles. I remember looking over to my lovely wife Alicia as we were hiking up the dunes and saying, "When God made a sandbox, He wasn't playing around!"
Perceptions are monsters. We see her. Does she see me? What have I seen? And the brief intersection of two people leaves more puzzles than solutions.
