This is probably as illegal as driving gets. But it's not so much driving as it is socializing...if you know what I mean. Besides we never go over 20km/h. maybe.... Anyway, this is by far the funnest way to be driven around. It's risky, funny at times, and refreshing.
I don’t know who this relic belongs to, I don’t know how long it has belonged to the mystery man. I can’t speak to the hours of dusty dirty labor it has endured, nor the places it’s been or the people who gave the best working years of their life to the Missabe. All I know is that it’s here, still, lounging above a dingy brown locker in the Proctor yard office. Small reminders of the awe inspiring history of this place are there to be found for those willing to take the time to seek them out.
Nevada Northern Railway No. 40 sits in the East Ely shops. The "Safety First" slogan was common on the railroad's steam locomotives in the early 20th century.
Ear protection, a helmet, a safety glasses visor, a headset and microphone to be in touch with the crew on the ground and, of course, being harnassed in all part of safety when working with a chain saw high up in a bucket truck.
View large to see the wood bits flying.

Ricky : "Mom. Me and Chip are gonna go for a bike ride."
Me : "And is he going to hang off of your handlebars like that?? That's not very safe..."
Ricky : "We've been practicing. I say, 'kick Chip, kick!!' and he swings his little feets up so they don't get caught in the spokes!!"
Me : "You've been practicing??!!"
Ricky : "Yeah.. He makes a pretty good bell, too. I think he's trying to sound like a bell... Maybe it's a cough.. Do those straps look too tight to you??"
Me : "Oh geez.."
