I heard Frank making all kinds of noise out back and found him smashing the garden apart chasing this baby bird that fell out of his nest. I got the bird before Frank did and tried to place it in the tree but it kept jumping out and Frank was on the prowl. The mother or father was giving me hell so I got the doors indoors and put the baby under the rosebush and left her for mom to hide. I will have to keep an eye on the boys - but there cats and dogs in every yard around here.
Say a prayer for the little fellow.

The Matau Primary School classrooms were falling down and had gaping holes in the ceiling. Save the Childrne built new classrooms, teachers' houses, a preschool, a playground and new latrines and hand-washing stations. Children are already enjoying class in these new, safe classrooms. The city of Long Branch did a nice job with this crosswalk and the curb cuts, enabling folks in wheelchairs to cross the street safely. Now if only the motorists would yield when they see someone entering the crosswalk! You can see the typical NJ motorist here in the photo....totally oblivious that Donna had entered the crosswalk. The cars are supposed to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks. Probably less than 50% do so however.

Luckily this place has been saved..unlucky for us urbex folk..it’s undergoing full renovation now..
I’ve lived round these parts most of my life..I’ve walked past this place so many times and never realised that it was abandoned..guess I should have gone to Specsavers !
It was built by a very prominent Dover man around the beginning of the 1900’s and designed by a leading architect of that day who went onto design the Garrick Club in London. As you can see there are some heavy Art Nouveau influences in the detailing.
The views are one of the best on this part of the coast and it still amazes me why anyone would let this house fall into such a bad state of repair.
Not sure how many of you have found a full size snooker table whilst out exploring..this really blew me away..the snooker table was made by one of the UK’s leading makers, their snooker tables graced the rooms of many a fine country house!
My favourite place was the green bathroom..almost intact after all this time. Solid cast iron as well that bath..I’m not kidding !
The sun room was also stunning with its patterned glass roof and commanded amazing views over the English Channel.

this weekend marks the tenth anniversary of our moving into this house, this home, this haven. it's kept us safe from all sorts of storms; it's sheltered new friends and old; and while it might be sporting a new coat of paint, its hundred-year-old core is just as strong as the day it was built.
while out shooting with mike on saturday, i found this compass star in a shop somewhere in connecticut. as soon as i saw it i knew i had to bring it home for florian, who hung it up right here on the front porch, next to our front door.
