The old night safe on the Commonwealth Bank building in Forrest Place. Welded shut as the highly historic building is now (for some stupid reason) a surf wear store.
One of the destinations for the first Not So Amazing Race. They actually found this one surprisingly quickly as Ryan insisted on dragging everyone to Forrest Place as soon as he saw the word "bank" in the clue. No one noticed that "For a rest place" = "Forrest Place".
Bapco Holds a Major Incident Exercise
With the objective of evaluating the overall response to emergencies, Bapco held a full-scale major incident exercise on 12 April, 2012.
The exercise, namecoded TAKREER, lasted for 3 hours and involved fighting a simulated fire in one of the crude units in the Refinery. Bahrain Civil Defence participated in TAKREER and more than 100 Bapco and contractor employees were involved.
A similar exercise was held on 21 December, 2011 in marketing terminal in Sitra. “The more we practice, the more confident we become in managing emergencies” said Hafedh Al-Qassab, General Manager Refining and TAKREER director. “We have learnt a lot in this exercise and will certainly utilize the learning in improving our procedures and resources” Mr. Al-Qassab continued.
The exercise observers, some of whom were non-Bapco employees, were pleased with the outcomes of TAKREER and praised the effective and efficient command of the exercise. “The adverse impact of a major incident can be minimized if the incident is managed well at its initial stages” commented Mr. Ebrahim Talib, acting Chief Executive of Bapco. “On behalf of Bapco Management, I thank all those involved in the preparation and implementation of the exercise. The present resources and organizational structure make us confident to manage any emergency, and we intend to further improve our processes and practices in this critical area.”
With the hum of the sewing machines going almost constantly, endless yards of fun and beautiful fabrics and elastic, and our family's nimble fingers, your and old, spent hundreds of hours sewing and donating masks for over 2000 people for our family, friends and people in our community, near and far.

No one knows what's in this -- over the years, someone has drilled the lock and the hinges, but it hasn't opened. As far as we know, it's been with the building since it was built, and it weighs about 800 lbs (we know, because we had to push it around).
We've done some research on the safe, and we'd like to get it open one day. Chris is planning to use explosives at some point.

The other day we went to Tzfat, one of the four holy cities for Jews and the center of Kabbalah study. It was a grown-up trip. Petya rented a car, and we joined him. Tzfat is all about mountains, up and down, just like our Haifa. And lots and lots of Haredim—“those who tremble before God”—religious Jews. Yeshivas (institutions of higher learning in Judaism, where the Talmud and other traditional Jewish disciplines are studied, as well as preparing candidates for the rabbinate) are everywhere. Many young Haredi men with suitcases—they came to study.
We were, I believe, very lucky. We stumbled upon a wedding. I was hesitant to take photos. I suppose it’s a part of my current stage of growing older. But I couldn’t resist—I joined the crowd of photographers and clicked the button a couple of times. The bride was stunning.
The crowd was friendly. We went down another street because Petya wanted to visit a very old synagogue, the Abuhav Synagogue, with painted ceilings. We tried to bypass the wedding procession, which is no easy task in the narrow streets of Tzfat. And we ran into them again.
They were just entering the synagogue. We were invited in, too. Everyone was given a cookie.
Clothing Labels are great for items with tags that are washed frequently because the clothing labels are laundry safe. There is no ironing required and the clothing labels are also removable.
Work to complete the New safe confinement is ongoing, and will soon be ready to move it to reactor 4.

Technical sheets explaining each reinforcement technique are distributed to participants at the trainings. In addition, the community trainers receive a manual/handbook with all the necessary documents for leading community trainings.
And, in order to encourage the use of these reinforcement techniques by the entire community, technical sheets are widely distributed. This way, everyone can understand how to install hurricane straps on his/her house and the benefits which can be drawn from having a Safer House.
