Have you heard of the One who can calm the raging seas
Give sight to the blind, pull the lame up to their feet
With a love so strong and never let you go
oh you're not alone
You will be safe in His arms
'Cause the hands that hold the world are holding your heart
This is the promise He made
He will be with You always
When everything is falling apart
You will be safe in His arms - Phil Wickham
With their train safely on its way, the Virgin despatchers return to the warmth of their awaiting office. Retford, North Nottinghamshire.
Image Description from historic lecture booklet: "About ten miles northwest of the Sea of Galilee on a very high hill (2,749 feet) of the ancient province of Galilee, is situated the city of Safed, which is thought by some to be the city referred to by Jesus in His sermon on the mount (Matt 5:14).
You remember the words of our Lord to his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount? "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid." He may have pointed to this very hill and this very city, now known as Safed, in northern Galilee. Although no place having this location is named in the Bible, it is probable that in Christ's day, a city was standing on this hill, for in the New Testament period, this land was densely populated. Safed stands as a landmark, seen in every direction, and well illustrated the words of Jesus regarding the prominence of his disciples in the world."

We could no longer afford to buy a tent for us to sleep in every year on the campsite and watch it disintegrate over the summer. We had to get our caravan from the UK somehow but that wasn't a cheap option either. We needed help.
Our friends Ben & Emma responded and we agreed to share the cost of the trip in their land rover in exchange for them using the extra space to bring some of their own stuff over. They were heading for their place on the Island of Vis in Croatia so they could get it as far as the ferry port in Split and Den would drive up in our van to take it the final leg of the journey to Monte. Sounded like a good plan.

Thought I'd upload a few more of my favourite portraits of people who have touched our lives this year.
2014 GREAT Safe Summer Camp with New Hanover County Sheriff's Department and New Hanover County Fire Rescue Week 1 June 30-July 3
These pics were taken a few days later but by the time I made this discovery it was pouring with rain again. It seems that the pipe under the road that carries the stream bordering our land had become blocked. This caused the level to rise to such an extent that it started to flow over the top of the road with such ferocity that it completely destroyed this 15-20m section of our boundary fence.
Some of you may remember a similar workshop flood last year. Unable to do very much to prevent it happening again I had lifted a lot of stuff off the floor onto wooden pallets so it wasn't a complete disaster but quite a bit of stuff had found it's way back to ground level again during the summer.
Blow it up big to read the texts.
Verlier im Tempo deiser zeit
Den Blick nicht für die Ewigkeit !.....
We opened this one whilst the owner was in handcuffs.
They called the landy Boris, after the Mayor of London, on account of it being blue with a blonde top and somewhat unpredicatable.
To this day I still don't know how we managed to add in Emma, young son and even more stuff and still make it to Split. It was cosy to say the least.
Things got truly comic when we met up with Den. Dumped all their stuff on the quayside and waved goodbye as they waited for their ferry.

There were a few minor mishaps (not least my beautiful salt pot that cracked because the clay was still too wet when we fired the piece) but the vast majority of the work turned out pretty well.
I don't want expensive gifts; I don't want to be bought. I have everything I want. I just want someone to be there for me, to make me feel safe and secure.

We love it when our guests volunteer to give us a night off and prepare dinner for us. Here two lovely ladies from Israel are helped by British born (but living in France) Andrew during the preparation of their tasty meatball recipe.

They dug a hole and sunk a section of old oil drum into the ground and used lengths of re-enforcing bar as a support platform for the work. An old cast iron pipe was part buried and joined to the barel to act as a flue to a chimney.

Stefan kept us entertained as we drank our way through a case of beer and Dave & Hattie "discussed" technical issues like the estimated internal temperature of the kiln and the rate at which more wood should be added.

The blue tinge to this piece was created by rubbing the surface of the peice in salt before firing.

Hattie explained that she always created a small random icon like piece for every firing she did. She called it the kiln god who's mission was to safegaurd the rest of the pieces in the kiln during the firing.

it has been a lonely road. days race by and not a single moment when i wasn't wishing for someone to just be there with me. honest, these are honest words. lately my goal has simply been to pull myself together. nothing much, nothing really.
