Not particularly happy about rubbing shoulders with the English - but then we did bomb the f*%k out of their city so hardly surprising.
It's around 5pm and we've only been awake for a couple of hours but we needed to refuel for the evening.
It was thoughtful for Detroit to upgrade all the city sidewalk corners with ramps and the latest warning bump textures...even though there was little traffic, few pedestrians, no homes left nor any sidewalks to connect the corners :) These dis-connected corners have intrigued me for quite some time and I finally got around to photographing some of the most extreme examples this morning.
This is a parfume container set with two hand carved Carrara marble bottles. The idea is that the girl gives a sample of her parfume to the guy in the round bottle - while the guy gives his sample to the girl in the long bottle. Then it can be worn and when they miss eachother, they can snif into the bottles..
The girl's bottle can be worn as a pendant or as a brooch, using the separate backpin and the two silver tubes on the back of the cage.
The guy's bottle is meant to be worn as a pocket or bag piece, he can attach the silver chain by the brass clasp.
Both bottles have a silver cage that have a safe clousure. They keep the bottles in position and in the same time they push the corks into the bottles.
The silver oak leafs are from a vintage German coin. Oak leaf in folklore represents long lasting power, long lasting love.
With the copper pitcher you can collect the parfume from the spray and with the funnel you can fill up the bottles.
The marble phials were inspired by Roman cosmetic phials, many of them were blown glass, others were carved stone.

Some of the commercial fishing boats docked at the well-protected harbour of Queen Charlotte City during a serene day on the Pacific Coast. Queen Charlotte Islands, British Columbia, Canada.
But unfortunately cars are fast and might hit them. I save them with my scooter as I stop and get cars to slow so the Turtle crosses the road safely. Otherwise I’ve accessed dead ones hip by car.
