Woke up with power on and no damage to the house....our area which has been devastated by two major floods in the past six years, has been spared so far. We are lucky. Thoughts and prayers to those who are facing much more significant damage today and the days to come. Stay strong and stay safe:)

Thank you to all of you for your thoughts and prayers, and for taking the time to check out my photos. it means a lot! Hugs for a good week! ~~Leslie

"As all European countries, Italy is a safe country. Violent crime is low, and most tourists will never be bothered by safety concerns other that petty crime. It is ranked 34th on the ranking of world's safest countries."

The "Safe Streets" Operation started on 4th August 2008 on the national territory, after the promulgation of the Law n. 125 of the 24th July 2008 n.92; that law authorizes "the employment of a military contingent of the Armed Forces in specific and extraordinary circumstances to prevent criminality.

This is an Iveco LMV.

"Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) is a 4WD tactical vehicle developed by Iveco, and in service with several countries."

"The LMV uses modular armour packs to adjust its level of protection to its mission requirements. In regards to mine protection, the vehicle's ground clearance has been increased to 493 mm without increasing the overall height (less than 2 meters); it also uses suspended seats of aeronautical derivation, v-hull under body, and a collapsible sandwich structure in the floor to deflect and absorb mine blasts. Its exhaust is piped through its C-pillars, and its turbocharger is located underneath the engine to reduce its thermal signature. Mobility is helped by a run-flat system, allowing the vehicle to move even with completely deflated tires."

"The irradiated image matter of Shevchenko’s documentary offers a paradigmatic account of a material witness in which trace evidence of an external event — the nuclear accident at Chernobyl — is registered directly by changes in the material composition of the artifact, producing information that opens up the artifact to further analysis and critical reflection.

In the case of Shevchenko’s defective film stock, there can be no dispute that the radioactive isotopes released into the atmosphere by the reactor meltdown — at a magnitude 400 times greater than that of the atomic bomb over Hiroshima — were the source of the film’s contamination, and thus offered compelling evidence as to the scale and migrating nature of the disaster. Indeed, subsequent radiation readings also confirmed that all of his film equipment, including his Konvas and cherished Arriflex cameras, had been severely exposed, thus requiring their immediate decommissioning and disposal. Shevchenko himself died less than a year later, in March 1987."

In 2007, Edwards Coaches purchased two relatively rare 11m Duple 300-bodied Leyland Tigers - F62 & 63 SMC - for school contract work.

The pair were from a batch of three new to Jubilee Coaches of Stevenage, who was absorbed by County Bus & Coach as one of the successors to London Country (North East), and then served with South Lancs Travel.

Edwards applied a liberal coat of 'safe' yellow paint to them, as was all the rage with dedicated school contract vehicles at the time. Whilst F63 SMC appears to have been withdrawn around 2014 and was then sold for scrap, F62 SMC became an immobile classroom for Edwards, which extended her life by a further five years.

This shot of F63 SMC was taken in June 2011 as she was emerging from Berw Road in Pontypridd when returning from an afternoon school contract.

Having safely delivered its passengers (including the wife and I) to Waverley, GB Railfreight Class 92, 92023 prepares to run round it stock so it can haul it back to Polmadie depot for servicing.

023 had worked the Carstairs-Edinburgh portion of the Caledonian Sleeper Lowlander (1B26) which had arrived four minutes ahead of its publicised arrival time into Waverley.
