PARKED AT PONTADAWE DEPOT

After posting some photos of the last day of old route numbers I was asked for the date this was. I could not pin it down until I found a copy of the publicity leaflets that accompanied the change.

The changes to route numbers predated the opening of the Quadrant Bus Station (all UWS services moving-in on 6 November 1978) by nearly five years.

Nobody in this morning to pay a visit though everything looked so neat lined up ready for tomorrow that I thought I'd have these two shots.

The bus was a bit too far away from the camera and it was also a thin negative so sorry this is the best I could do. The Willowbrook body carried by this AEC Swift reminds me of the M&D Leyland Panthers. Seen close to Berresford's Garage at Cheddleton I imagine this Stoniers bus from the other side of The Potteries was in for a service. It was new to Bingley of Kinsley and new in October 1967 would have been built just as they finished the fifty Maidstone & District buses.
