Alternate title(suggested by the wife),"the nightmare before christmas".This is one from the archives and it is from a visit to a great abandoned farmhouse near tiny Kent,IL.The once impressive old house was last lived in in the early '70s.It has been allowed to rot away by family members who still use the surrounding farm, and who also have a lot of personal memories and belongings still in the decaying house.I'm sure there are old pictures in there somewhere of this house in its prime, which would make the "nightmare" aspect of its current state all too real.Stories like this one just don't happen in the movies....

Her husband died and she remarried (my father in law)and had four more children...she live loved laughed cried ....saw her childeren grow up and get married and have children of their own..and saw her grandchildren have children too. she now lives in a nursing home where she spends her time waiting. What she is waiting for I am not quit sure...maybe she is waiting for visitors...or maybe she waiting to stop hurting...or maybe she is waiting for the time when there is no more time to wait....well thats her story....whats yours.

This ranch house served as a field hospital for the main action in the Battle of Glorieta Pass. It has some small exhibits; the main visitor center has more.
As it turns out, the battle outside these walls was not the most important action of the day. See my article here:

From the room there is a Christmas song and a cry! What is it?
Me: Girls, why are you screaming?
Lyla: We? Oh! We are singing! You do not like our singing? :-(
Me (I'm ashamed): Oh no! Your singing is beautiful! (whispering: What is it about the sound? What is the Christmas tree? ...)
Happy Wednesday my dear flickr friends! ♥♥
