Harriman State Park is located in Island Park Idaho. It's a favorite place of mine to cross country ski during the cold winter months. I've rarely visited here in the summer and after spending a little time here, I look forward to coming back. I have a strong desire to hike the paths that I've skied. I can't believe how different everything looks in the summer. The river you see in this image is the world famous Henry's Fork of the Snake River. It's famous for fly fishing.

Thi first lupine that blooms in the Whiskey Dick Wildlife area near Vantage, Washington. Hundreds of this lupine were blooming. IMG_5377
From the same roll that I got back today. They were taken months apart, but something about them fit together for me.
So, the story is that at the time Eric and I had not heard of the film "Religulous" and we thought that the marquee sorta meant to say that they were open every day religiously. This supposed misspelling was hilarious to me because there was a church adjacent ot the theater! I later found out that it was the name of a documentary. duh. Still funny. Eric made a super awesome painting of the theater and wrote about our journey here. Check it out.
My second mistake regarding the theater was unknowingly referring to the town it's in as "Tupperware Lake" while on the phone with the guy that I was supposed to meet at Traditional Arts of Upstate New York that afternoon. Ooops.
I had Thanksgiving dinner at 10:30 pm at the diner on the left. The interior is pretty great and I'll have more to post of it soon.
(I'm listening to the cars squeal by in the street outside my apt. as they try to make their way down the slush and snow covered streets. I just missed getting a ticket and being towed last night during the snow emergency!!)

In Traverse City, MI - Great Lakes Maritime Academy was established in 1969 to provide education and training to those wanting a career in the merchant marine. The academy trains mates (pilots), and maritime engineers. The summer of 2002 brought the arrival of the 224-foot (68 m) training ship, a former Navy vessel, now named the T/S State of Michigan. The academy moved into the new facility late fall of 2003.
Originally dedicated on October 23, 1972, the academy harbor was next on the list for improvements and reconstruction began in 2004. The harbor was completely rebuilt and expanded to better accommodate the T/S State of Michigan and the academy’s three smaller vessels.[2] Appropriately named the “Alumni Light”, the Great Lakes Maritime Academy Alumni Association provided funding to place a large green harbor light atop the 40-foot-tall (12 m) former aftermast of the T/S State of Michigan at the northwest corner of the academy’s harbor. The harbor was completed in 2005, and concluded the construction of the modern campus now home to the Great Lakes Maritime Academy where the T/S State of Michigan is moored only 150 feet (46 m) from the buildings rear.
Rocks State Park is a public recreation area located in and around Deer Creek Valley near Pylesville, Harford County, Maryland. The state park's 1,060 acres (430 ha) preserve the geologic formation known as the King and Queen's Seat and other features in three non-contiguous areas near the junction of Maryland Route 24 and Maryland Route 165. It is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

The Dupont State Forest contains some of the most pastoral woods in North Carolina. Though there are places with taller mountains and more "wild" trails, one cannot help but be enchanted by a walk in this still somewhat recently protected forest.

I can't remember which state park this was. This was taken during a side trip I did exploring upstate NY. Its a surprising mix of natural beauty, rundown old towns and quaint little places.

While visiting Echo Bluffs State Park we were discussing the wild horse herd and wondered if we would see them. After leaving the park and traveling south on highway 19 around a curve and there they were, grazing in a pasture on the side of the road. Only problem the road had NO shoulder and there were cars behind me so i could slow down but not stop. So we slowly drove down the hill and found a side road which went right by the grazing horses. I could stop here and shoot away without fear of being rear ended. So nice to see these after hearing about them for so long.

From Whirlpool State Park you can walk,
run or bike the multi-use recreational trail. For spectacular vistas, hike along the Niagara Gorge Rim Trail. For more difficult and challenging hikes, stairs descend to a trail along the raging river’s edge. The park also offers nature programs, shelters, picnicking and fishing. Restrooms. Open Spring to Fall.
