Well, I packed up my photo gear (and warmest sleeping gear) and went to shoot the Geminid meteor shower. I knew the full moon would be a challenge, but thought I'd get something. Nope! Actually two very faint meteors. So I tried to salvage something. This is a composite of several hundred star images into one trails image. Then I pasted a foreground into the scene. Yes, it's a composite, but at least it's from one location. Imperfect, but I suffered a lot in the cold before I gave up (the wind blew cold air into every minuscule gap in my sleeping set up.
The old elevator hangs on by a thread illuminated by the conveniently placed rear headlight of BNSF 7175 stopped at Saffordville with the BNSF Train U GDNBIR1 07A. The rear end is just clear of CP Ellinor and CP Ice, where the BNSF La Junta Sub. and Emporia Sub. meet. You never know when the next wind storm will come along and finish the job. I say that and it sounds tongue in cheek, but seriously, there was a tornado on the ground within a mile of this structure about 2 weeks later, so you really never know.
The sky off to the left is illuminated by a controlled prairie fire in the Flit Hills around the Bazar vicinity.

I hope you and your loved ones are well dear friends. I wanted to share my passenger seat view from this morning’s trip to work. The play of sunlight against the windshield fluid droplets with a silhouette if Chicago cityscape, reminded me of the painting “Starry Night”.
It also made me think the blurry days ahead of us, where we don’t know what will our lives be like.
Sunny days to you dear friends; stay safe, stay positive:)))
These reindeer didn't want to stand up for their photo shoot - I nearly gave up but finally managed to get a few shots before they fell over for the umpteenth time. 😊
I used my Panasonic as it has a star filter setting which works much better than using a star filter on my dslr.

Tree of the Year 2016 and the most photographed spot in the whole of Northumberland National Park. ... It stands in a dramatic dip in Hadrian’s Wall in the Northumberland National Park.
A crystal clear night at Rainbow Valley Conservation Park in the Northern Territory. A great time to be out and about as all the flies have gone to bed.
"For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you"
A couple of nights spent at Cherry Springs State Park, PA left a nagging image of Van Gogh's masterpiece in my mind. I couldn't resist recreating it with photographs from my camping trip.
Tribute to Vincent... I love Vincent. He is my hero....He was never fully understood....
'They' will never listen....'They' don't know how.....
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now.....
A visit to a secret location in Salisbury UK for a spot of astrophotography and to test our new lens was hampered by clouds but we still managed to get some good photos when the cloud cleared a little.
Sometimes, the stars at night seem so close it seems like you can reach out and touch them with your hands...
A throwback to a couple of weeks ago when we were enjoying clear sky nights. This serene moment was captured at Guilderton Beach, just an hour from Perth. The sky is a blend of 41 stacked images, while the foreground is a single, perfectly timed shot.

First go with a fast prime Sigma 24 mm f1.4 ART lens on one of rare clear August nights. Light pollution and the Moon rising didn’t help. Still more stars than one may count. The North-East arch of the Milky Way. Lansdown, Bath, BANES, England UK
An alternate shot from my visit to Pueblo Pintado, 15 miles south of Chaco Canyon. The ruin in its heyday was an outlier to the Chaco Canyon complex, as I understand it, a kind of way station. But, who knows, it may have had more or less significance at the time. Now it's significance lies in the preservation of its architectural style and as an example of the exquisite craftsmanship of its builders.
